Alright, so I'm a bit baffled as to whether this is just a few easy fixes that need to be done or if there's a link between them and there being a bigger problem at hand..

The car started overheating earlier today on the way home when I wasn't maintaining speed above 30mph~. The temperature seemed to fluctuate from the middle to the beginning of the "High" zone marking, and hot enough to cause the coolant to come out of the overflow after I turned the car off.. I did notice that the cooling fan wasn't on even when the ignition was in the start position after turning the engine off, and it is NOT coming on regularly even when the engine is hot and running, but they do work; as when I turn the A/C on both the A/C and the cooling fan comes on.

So after I got home and let it sit for awhile, I checked the fluids and noticed the oil level was just below the "MAX" line on the dipstick, so I was good there.. the coolant reservoir had plenty of coolant in it even after cooling down.

After letting it sit for about two hours, I've turned the car back on and it slowly started to flicker the oil dummy light (which is a new issue), and then as it warmed up become more and more steady, and flickers when giving it gas. I have noticed in the past that the light was flickering when I hit boost at high rpms previous to it starting to flicker just now. I've searched the threads and I'm assuming this is an issue with a lose wire or a bad sender, but I want to get a second opinion as I'm out of cash until pay day and don't want to risk driving the car unless I feel confident the issues are not a threat to the engines health.

The engine and transmission both have been rebuilt just a few weeks ago and have only 550~ mi on them approx. The car was just tuned over the weekend. Is there any chance the code in the ECU can stir up issues with the cooling fans coming on at a certain temperature, or even not coming at all at any temp?

Thanks in advance for help,
Ryan R.

what are u using to tune with?? if u have something like dsmlink to see what temps u are actually at that would help but depending on what ecu u have sometimes the fans won't come on until like 215-220 deg. If i was you i would just wire a switch to the relay so u can turn the fans on all the time or whenever you need to. And if you have a FMIC it could be causing ## radiator to not get enough air and overheat.. Also take the cap of of the radiator and let the engine run for about 15 min and make sure there are no air bubbles..

The oil light is a common issue with srt4's. The diagnosis is, if there is a light flikering and no failed lifter or knock noise then install a new oil pressure swich. If there is noise, install a new engine. :ohdamn:

Alright, so I got a light and took a look under the hood a little closer and saw what I think is the problem. Here are some pictures.. Does anyone have a part number on this by chance? I'm going to run to NAPA tomorrow and see what they run.

I'm just hoping that the sensor blowing didn't cause the engine to overheat to the point that it warped the head or block which may explain the oil dummy light :ohdamn:

@Crazy - I've had the car tuned and had a chip programmed for the ECU. It is NOT using ANY stand-alone management at the moment until I get the MAF-T on there which I'll use to tweak the air flow and so that I can raise the boost higher because I'm currently hitting the max airflow on the stock 1g MAS. I'm still using the stock 1g sidemount, no FMIC here.

ALSO... I think that is the Temperature Sensor sending unit, is that correct? If so, that would explain why I'm not getting the fans to turn on right now.. I do believe they've came on prior to this and yet after being tuned.

UPDATE - I've found the issue was the oil filter housing sensor wire that was loose and got stuck on the chassis grounding it out, and the overheating was due to a very small pinhole sized leak in a hose that eventually got big enough to locate when squeezing the hose... Issues are fixed.
