i got this turbo from a guy who owed me money, its in perfect condition. no shaft play, looks clean as hell inside and out. he said it was only used for like 500 miles. i havent really heard anything about xspower and was wondering if anyone has or had this turbo and how they liked or disliked it. thanks :dsm:

Ebay, find a mhi one there out there, 14b, 16g, several to pick from do it once and dont take chances on a turbo failure, not worth the headache.

It's a knock off. Run it if you want to have nice oil shavings in your oil pan, actually spend money and buy an mhi one.

He ripped you off, I'd get your money from that guy instead.

I don't think you'll end up with shavings in your pan though. Usually the seals blow and if the turbine wheels do disintegrate they will usually get caught in the IC/go out the exhaust.

Hopefully he didn't owe you more than $50. It serves better as a door stop than an actual turbo.

They are great for only 12 psi, any higher then that and they usually come apart. My good friend used one on his civic and lasted 20k miles @ 12psi turned it up to 14psi and started having problems with it. Just save for an MHI you'll be more happy in the long run.

LOL well it wasnt very much at all thank god. well i am also getting a turbonetics 50 trim.. what do you all think about that!?

Its just a ebay turbo. Good luck if you run it.

You are on Stewart. Cool.

and yes, i am on stewart. i have other post stating whats wrong with my car, but as soon as its up and running ill be up in savannah! hit me up and maybe we could shoot the shit haha :hellyeah:

Last Turbonetics turbo I installed was outlasted by an eBay GT35R that it replaced, and the 35R junk only lasted 400 miles. ;)

The cops in Ft. Stewart/Hinesville area suck. I got to be on my P's and Q's everytime I drive through there towards Savannah. Here in Valdosta 60 in a 45 is completely normal down Bemiss mainly because it used to be 55 before they put a sidewalk next to it. Do that in Hinesville they freak out.

all this talk about turbos not lasting long, is this from just daily driving or from boosting the crap out of it, like street racing?

It's from 4year old Chinese kids not giving a shit about quality control.

On the topic of XSPower. I pulled one of a "costumers" car. (I do side work) Journal bearings failed causing the fins to hit the wall and then the fins just came apart. It almost looks like the turbo ingested something, but the owner told me he never drove the car without a filter. If this is true then the turbo is cheap all around.

A LOOOOOOONG time ago me and a friend started to do a side by side comparison of the EVOIIIGT turbo vs a MHI turbo. But I got deployed and my friend was pretty clueless.

so what was the out-come? did u ever finish the comparison? i skimmed through that link to the thread but i didnt see anything except people complaining haha

They're saying you pay to play. Go buy a knock off turbo and then come crying back when it craps out. Spend the $500 and do it properly.

More durable internals are a plus, but they don't make up for a weaker turbine shaft that can snap with high boost and heavier compressor wheel that isn't as efficient as it's MHI counterpart.

You're still better-off finding a blown MHI turbo without wheel damage and rebuilding that unit for around the same money the you'll have wrapped up in buying a Chinese 16G, porting it, and rebuilding it with better internals....BUT, in a situation where the price is right, it's worth a try I suppose.

well either way i think i made off with this, cause he did give me a aem wideband and a tubular manifold with external wastegate thats blocked off with a plate. im not trying to run super high boost. maybe 15-16 lbs? would u recommend that with a 16g rebuilt with MHI internals? the wastegate that was put on it im not sure of the pressure in holds but its way bigger than the one on my t25 and it has a mitsubishi logo stamped in it. the compressor wheel has a something wrote on it too.
