Opinions on XSPOWER Big EVO3 16g

i got this turbo from a guy who owed me money, its in perfect condition. no shaft play, looks clean as hell inside and out. he said it was only used for like 500 miles. i havent really heard anything about xspower and was wondering if anyone has or had this turbo and how they liked or disliked it. thanks

I,m sure you can't use MHI parts on the CHRA on the ebay turbo. I know Justin will chime in on this.

read the thread on the link i posted. he is the one who posted on there what is needed to rebuild a ebay 16g with MHI parts. he posted that back in 2008

You are correct, but the turbine isn't.

Yes the turbine is posted like posted, why not just get a genuine mhi turbo. Not worth the chance of failure my buddies turbo off ebay, failed and wrecked havoc on his 7 bolt.

I mean posted not a genuine turbine.

can i get 15-16 pounds safely with that turbine? people are saying the stock internals start going out like the seals and stuff at around 13-14. if it truely has MHI internals will the turbine withhold 15-16. thats my goal i mean im not trying to have a super super fast track car. just daily driving, with maybe a civic or mustang butt whooping every once and a while.

I have a new MHI big 16g for 500$. The turbo you got is CRAP. Ive seen em crack time and time again. the wheels arent balances, its made of subpar casting materials. You get what you pay for my friend.

Well why chance the reliability of your engine is what im saying, lots of threads and discussion on ebay turbos.

Its one thing to have a silicone coupler 2.5" 4-ply rated at 220psi for 4$ on ebay, versus a brand name coupler thats the same material and quality for 39.99$. Same for vaccuum hoses, and other miscelaneous parts. But when going with the Turbo, or Engine components, and most sensors, etc, you wanna go with stock, or brand name parts. Especially when the "ebay" chinese replica turbos have been KNOWN to break after the first pull. In my experience, I remember tearing down 4 of the replica turbos of different sizes, and all of them had low miles according to the customers, and each of them had compressor wheel failures, the bearings were tore up, and although only 2 of them had cracks all the way through the exhaust housing, all four had cracks on the exhaust flange between the exhaust wheel and the wastegate housing, so the turbos couldnt build boost. They are total crap. I think one one, a part of the compressor housing was melted/warped where it met the cooland jacket on the main bearing housing. I have movies posted on youtube. Just search ebay turbo.

well i didnt pay for it it was given to me as collateral plus a wide band and tubular manifold, so its really not a big deal. i can always sell it to a honda lover
