2G Opinions on which BOV

If you want to blow some serious dough on a BOV, get a Tial or HKS.
You can't recirculate the Tial but they are great BOVs. Same with the HKS but you can recirculate it.
Both are very responsive compared to the 1G, NGR and Greddy valves. [/B]

Tial BOV's are awesome !!!! :hellyeah:
The new TIAL QR is for recirculated applications.

TIAL QR

If you want to vent you'll need a GM MAF, I use a MAFT to convert the signal and have V3 lite.

Assuming you only want a BOV for sound, pick one and recirculate it. Or do the above.

The Greddy Type-S is junk, i have one right now and that is one leaky BOV. Get a crushed 1G or a Tial. Or if you can find one, get a NGR Type-s they sound pretty badass. They aren't the loudest but they do not leak until you get into the REALLY high boost levels.

Exactly when does the NGR start to leak? I am running it and have BLT mine to 35 PSI and it didn't leak at all. I plan to run the NGR with my new setup at 32 PSI and I'm not worried one bit about it leaking.

another person with a screaming loud bov on a stock car.... And i think you guys forgot the loudest bov iv herd in person the turboxs RFL

I had that BOV on my car when I bought it and I thought it sounded like crap. Don't get me wrong, it was loud but it just didn't sound special at all.

I had the rfl on my first gsx too and it was extremely loud but the sound/tone was crap. Imho the Tial is the best out there right now. Yes, it's expensive and yes, you will need speed density or a gm maf, but you probably will never have to buy another one again.

I've run 1g, Greddy type RS, Forge & HKS SSQV. The Forge was defently the loudest (& best sounding), then Greddy.

This is your answer, right here. The Greddy Type S sounds like a canary, its pretty overrated in my opinion. The crushed 1G BOV is something that apparently works for some people but I would never run it, unless it was just temporary until I could get something better, or if I was just planning on staying with the stock turbo. The HKS is overpriced and bulky, looks weird, and seems like its awkward to recirculate in our cars. The Forge BOV is really nice, you can get replacement springs for it to run with higher boost levels, it sounds good and looks good, this is the BOV I would suggest.

TIAL QR

Oh yea, I completely forgot about the Tial QR. Tial valves rock, that or the HKS will be my next bov. I kind of wanna try the synapse valve too, I've never seen one of those in person but they seem like quality, responsive valves.

As a follow up to my first post, Ran the 1g valve first, it was fine, not that loud compared to the others I've run & doesn't sound as cool (if thats your thing), I swaped it because it started to leak ~15psi. Next was the Forge, it was loud, sounded the best, held 20-25psi no problem but I had an issue that it would not blow off in one burst at full boost, so had to swap it. Later found out there was a manufacturing defect & if I tried again, it would probably be fine. Next ran the Greddy, it was fine once adjusted correctly (had to set it with the least amount of spring pressure possible), sounded better then the 1g, not as good as the Forge. Louder then 1g, quieter then Forge. I swapped from the Greddy just because I don't like Greddy products & removed them all from my car. Next was the HKS SSQV, I've ran it the longest, though I don't really like it. It isn't very loud (even under full boost) & most of the time it flutters unless under full boost. I've only kept it as its a pull type valve, so the more boost the better it seals. The SSQV is a great valve if vented but I don't really like it in a recirculated configuration.

Forge has a pull type valve for the Mazadaspeed & they are able to mate it with a DSM flange. I have heard this valve sounds like the reg Forge & according to another DSM user, no flutter issues. I will probably be swapping to this model in the spring as I always like the previous Forge valve I had. Should mention, they also have top notch customer service which can not always be said about some other companies out there.

Is there a bov that's still loud as hell even when recirculated or a atmospheric bov that wont cause me to run rich?

All a loud BOV is gunna do is give you a headsache and get you pulled over id be more concerned with how well they work rather then the noise they produce

Tial bov hands down.

It's currently on my car with a 2g MAF no recirculation (yes I do plan on switching to Speed Density) however I've barely noticed a difference from going to no recirculated. People really overexaggerate it if you ask me. My talon came unrecirculated too and there was no big difference aside from running a bit leaner between shifts which caused no problems when i switched it to a recirculated type s.

Tial is also very loud, and sounds incredible.
This sounds just like mine, and it's very loud at low boost too.

The only other bov I'd run on a car is the 1g, crushed and vented it sounds good. Recirculated I could never hear mine. However it works good.

In the end, I'd go with tial hands down

I have a tial QR in my evo and I love it. Tial has awesome products and they hold up very well over time. If you get the rite spring (be careful because the bov springs are chosen by vac @ idle) you will be very happy with a QR on a dsm/evo

Crushed 1g FTW. Here is like half throttle leaving my house.

For me I love it. Has an authentic sound that you can tell isn't just a bell and whistle. It is a legit sound of air being blown out not a pinging, squeeling, snorting etc. noise.

You're right. 1g BOV has an unique sound. I have it in my 2g, but I was considering changing it when it wears off.

Turbosmart makes a nice valve that sounds good and recirculates. It has a good positive close and holds pressure well. It vents some air to atmosphere and some air back to the intake so you don't run rich.

Regards
Greg
