I recently installed a Halman Pro boost controller that I know works and all supporting mods to run over stock boost.

Now for the problem, I can only build up 15psi then it creeps up a little higher. I've always known it creeps but I'm not worried about that at the moment. Where ever I set the boost controller (besides below 15psi) it'll jump right up to 15psi then creep up a few more psi.

I also noticed this while doing a BLT a while ago. I could only build up to 15psi with a compressor and from what I remember it held pretty well.

You could still have a fat boost leak. Is your turbo in good health? Do you have a pre-turbine leak?

The turbo is still in good condition, very very little shaft play. But it could possibly be a pre-turbine leak because putting on the coupler for the Dejon pipe is the biggest PITA. Is there anyway to check for a leak there?

And even if it was a pre-turbine leak that wouldn't explain why I can only build 15psi while boost leak testing. I haven't done a BLT in a while and I know someone's going to say it but I plan on doing one this weekend.

Which Hallman pro? Some are only designed to push 5 PSI more than wastegate.

If you bought or were sent the Hallman pro RX it only does 4-5 PSI more than wastegate.

What o2 housing are u running? Your profile doesn't say...from experience I know stock o2 housing causes boost creep under a lot of boost, so u might have to port out the flapper or change to external dump

I have a Punishment Racing Stainless Steel o2 dump. I know the reason it's creeping is because the flapper is not ported out, but I'm not too worried about that since I have another setup I will be putting in. I just want to run more than 15 psi on my 16g.

And as for the Halman it should be just the Pro, no RX. Would it say RX on it if it is, or how can I tell?

Thanks for the video. I watched one on the normal Pro and it looked exactly the same. I didn't get it new either so I don't know what came in the box, but I don't have 2 springs. So I'm leaning towards just a Pro.

But even if could adjust it only 5 psi more it still wouldn't explain why I can only make 15psi while BLT too.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I've run 28psi on my Hallman boost controller and I had a 14.7psi wastegate spring. Open it up and clean it.

Boost leak test.
Seafoam to find any exhaust leaks.

Search on what causes/IS boost creep. If it bugs you that much, you don't wanna do porting or a 34mm flapper, buy and external wastegate setup and be done with it.

It's not the creep that's bothering me, I know what causes it and how to get rid of it. I have a Tial wg but it's not on the car, I still need a o2 housing.

And I know I need to do a boost leak test, it'll be done this weekend.

Could be an exhaust problem or how far away you mounted the boost controller. Once you install the o2 housing it will probably fix your problems.

The mbc isn't very far away. It's on the radiator right by the coolant overflow. And I was looking to run a Tial 38mm wg on a recirculated o2 housing. It would be nice if that fixed the problem, and to run the wg off the o2 housing I would need to remove the flapper, correct?

The problem is still likely either the health of your turbo/wastegate or a boost leak. It would be fortunate if you can solve this with an external but if your wastegate is functioning properly right now then you will still have problems.

Yes, I think I just used a grinder and cut-off wheel. That and a nice spot weld with a MIG gun is sufficient. Otherwise you could always tap a bolt in the left over hole.

I ran a recirc'd O2 housing and I loved it. When the external gate opens you hear a nice deeper refined turbo grumble from the exhaust.
VTA dump was fun...but not on small turbos...it got annoying...fast.

Edit* you don't HAVE to remove the flapper(just wire it open), but I chose too along with porting the hell out of the opening so I was sure I'd have no creep through the tiny OEM hole.

OK thanks! And I'm guessing that I'll need to take the turbo out to do this. Or is there anyway possible to wire it open or grind it off while the turbo's still on the car?

Just to clear things up. The Hallman Pro RX is designed to open as fast as possible while being as accurate as possible. They achieve this by it only allowing it to run 5 PSI more than wastegate.

Only one way to find out! I'm sure it's possible but a PITA. Just make sure you disconnect your battery before welding, and have a magnet handy in case you drop the flapper!

Ahh, gotcha. I'd assume that's dependent on the ball and spring however. IIRC you can order replacement ones.
