Steinbach,
I just recently purchased my Talon and started to mod it. When i got my boost gauge hooked up it would boost but when it got to 8psi it stopped. From what i know i am supposed to be boosting about 12 psi at least. So i started to think and then suddenly i realized that the previous owner did a engine swap/rebuild and put a new turbo in it. So what i was wondering was that if it would be possible if when they did the rebuild they put a spring in the wastegate for only 8 psi??(does that sound possible) and if that is a possibility how do i go about changing it so i boost fully. Any other suggestions?

The mods that came with the car were==> UICP, Intake,
The mods i have put on the car so far ==> Apexi N1 Catback, autometer boost gauge

to me it sounds like you would have a boost leak because its not holding pressure properly, it could possible be the gauge too, whats your vaccum at idle? And by they way i see your from Winnipeg..!!!!! props man im half an hour away in the little town of steinbach

I got a question do you think i have a boost leak? My car will build boost to 10 psi then it will bounce between 8 and 10 psi while i am at wot.

It's hard to say if you do or not. You could have boost surge and a little boost creep. Everyone should do a boost leak test, especially those that boost funny or suspect something is wrong that could be related to a leak.

Seems like some of us are having simular problems.

I redid the vacume line again and then I noticed that my aftermarket gauge no longer zeros out when the car is off. It comes to rest around -5,-6. Am I right to think that means if it is showing 8, that is more like 12 because it is not zeroed and I actually managed to get the hose on right all along?

And how would I get it to zero again?
