Hey guys, short and simple question really. Are there any valid alternatives to the Omni power MAP sensors? Their recent bad track record kinda concerns me, especially at $110 for one of their sensors.

What are y’all using around the 3 bar range with ECMLink? Where’d you buy it from? How long has it lasted you so far? Any issues?

Just put the AEM/Kavlico 5 Bar sensor in. One and done.

With that said, if you must do a 3 bar type sensor, the GM/OE replacement 3 bar works just fine. As does the 3.3 Duramax GM/OE replacement sensor.

You also have the AEM/Kavlico 3.5 bar sensor.

At the end of the day, the “clarity” that people think exists and will hold you back, doesn’t. Just get the 5 bar. Once tuned correctly, you are never going to know what sensor is hooked up.

I trust a transducer 10/10 times over a plastic sensor. Go with the stainless sensors and stop being a cheap ass. I have seen no less than 40 local cars have an Omni sensor fail. The track record is real. In 25 years, I have never seen an AEM/Kavlico sensor fail.

Great advice, one request though. Don’t assume my intentions, please.

Cost doesn’t concern me, cost plus track record concerns me. I’m not gonna spend $100 on a shit sensor, which I’m very aware the omnipower is. I’m cool with spending good money for a quality product that’s gonna last though.

Which is why I asked for experiences. Appreciate the advice.

I went the AEM 5 bar route & it's never caused problems or failed. I mounted mine direct on the intake plentum, vibration & all. If memory service me well, that was something like 18 years ago & it still working as new.

I have had only two Omni MAP sensors for myself but actually both works great for me. A 4 bar GM style one worked for a couple of years and sold it. A 4 bar Mitsu style one, I have it in my 2g for about 7+ years and still working just fine.
I guess many people would recommend the AEM MAP sensors, including myself. I have been using three of AEM SS MAP sensors in my 1g for 10+ years, never replaced one. And to be honest I have never seen people complain about AEM sensors.
As a side note, I have had a GReddy E-01 boost controller in my 1g for 15 years, I bought it as used 16~17 years ago. It was already 5~6 years old when I bought it. The original 3.5 bar MAP sensor that came with the controller kit still works great after 20+ years of use. The sensor is with a SS case. So it seems that the case material affects the sensor's life span.

I blew a GM 3bar apart, with less than 3 bars.
That being said, I'm still running one (as much as one can when their car is in pieces), i have an NTK backup, and then, should life continue positively, I will move to something more durable after that.

Are there any MAP sensors that aren’t compatible with link? I only say this because I’m in the same mindset. I’ve dealt with a built car and the Omni going in and out randomly creating the most frustrating diagnosis.
