Oliver rods and which stroker piston?

Have any of you guys heard anything about oliver conrods? I read an article in modified mag that pretty much made out to be the best con rods in the world, just wondering if any dsmer's have any experience with them? Slowboy has them for sale http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=2490&

Also what stroker pistons have people had really good results with? I was lookin for somethig thing with like 8.0-8.5 CR. JE was the only piston that i have found so far with a 8.5 CR.
 
750$? You can get eagle rods for much cheaper.. I doubt you will push so much power that you'll need oliver rods
 
I'm running Eagle/Wiseco 9:1 stroker combo on my setup. So far I have a few hundred miles on with no complaints.

Oliver rods are expensive, what are your goals?
 
I think its way overkill but its your money. I would look for a rod in the 400 price range. I have never heard of anyone with rod problems with these engines. Incorrect Assembly, improper oil clearaces bad machining are the main problems. Look into scat rods. Very well designed/machined for 3 bills you cant beat it and you wont break them. If you do there is another problem. Unless you are making 800+ HP and 40 psi of boost the high dollar rods are not needed IMO. I would rather have my pistons and bearings coated and use a mid grade rod than spend all the money on just a high end rod.
 
I am running Oliver rods in my 2.3L DSM. I have had no issues with them. I did find that the Oliver rods required less clearancing of the block, than either the Crower, or Eagle rods. The oliver rods use a parabolic beam design, and they are some of the best out there. I bought mine for $575, so if there are places selling them for $750, you can do better. Also unlike other manufacturers, Oliver will send you free of charge the moly assembly lubricant reccomended for the rod bolts, if you have proof of purchase, for life. Yes this is not a huge expenditure, but it is customer service now and into the future.

How many of you out there have horror stories on customer service issues?

They are also the lightest of the billet rods out there and that is because of their clever use of material where it is needed the most and not just making a big overall rod.

You can do better but not by much. They do come at a premium price that is way more than $575. I’d like to be able to buy them for that kind of money but I can’t.
