old turbo question...

After i do all my maintenance on my car this weekend and fix all boost leaks im thinking about putting on a new/bigger turbo, the problem lies in this question-

i bought this "new" turbo 4 years ago and it has sat in my closet wrapped in plastic and in the original box it came in with the styrofoam peanuts, can seals go bad inside the turbo like this?, it was not exposed to heat/cold or moisture as i stated still wrapped in plastic.

am i good or proceed with caution?

It should be fine..Prime it with oil and spin the shaft..Only a couple ways to find out right.

Yea still should be good I had a turbo sit for over 3 years in a plastic bag put it on and it pulled real hard

I have a friend who is the "always has to be right guy" and he is swearing that the seals will be toast in the thing.

Nice...! not only do i want my car to be better with this new booster but the bonus would be proving my idiot friend wrong and then dusting his slow ass mustang!!!

There's no little gnomes at the turbo factory spinning and oiling the turbos once they go into their shipping boxes. I'm running a turbo on my van that came from a car with over 150k and had probably sat outside since the 90's. Boost is boost, I don't discriminate
