Ok, here is my start:

First, a clip from a 1990 Playboy Magazine called "Talon Scouting"

Second, an article intitled "The Archer Bothers - A motorsports conglomerate" from July 1992 Mopar Muscle Magazine. (check out all those Talon race cars in the first picture!!!! I count 9 in a row!)

Well, my next contribution is the 1G promotional model that was available at select dealerships. Been looking for a white one for nearly 20 years, have never seen it. 99.9% sure it only came in red.

I did not know that this even existed. Now I have to have one. :ohdamn:

On a side note, make sure you guys are uploading the images to the site, not just linking to them or else they will end up being broken links down the road. Lets keep it rolling!

'97 Tsi in white is awesome......

Because I have the best boyfriend ever, for my birthday yesterday he gave me this photograph. It is the original photograph taken for a newspaper article printed about the DSM plant Oct 22 1990. The article is behind the picture. I only took a cell phone shot, but there are DSM logos on the shirts and helmet. What hood skeleton could that possibly be? LOL

F****N Incredible! That 4G's turbo is pretty big.....the intake mani is awesome! Fixed mount fan....and 1 cam! That rally car is in the game GT3 or GT4.....sick machine. I do still have a VCR! LOL

Damn Jose...I'm stupid jealous:thumb:

Just sick man.....:applause:

That museum is incredible. I could spend all day there. They even had a separate building dedicated to Ralliart. That initial 4G63T was awesome. Like you said it was a single cam and a 8 Valve at that. The motor was the 1st motor in a display showing the the full evolution fo the 4G63 up to modern day.

Wow, we have got some really great stuff showing up in here. Some of which I have never seen. :hellyeah:

Have a couple more to add. Just scanned them so I will post hi-resolution links when I get a chance for those that want them.

This is one of the first if not first automotive magazine write up on the Plymouth 1G. Biggest thing of note in the article is the name for the car. Plymouth was contemplating resurrecting the Barracuda moniker for the car. So in the article it is referred to as the Plymouth Barracuda. Just imagine if they kept that name.

The other thing to notice is the wheel/tire combo. It is not the 16" that came with the higher trim production models. But rather a 17" wheel with 235/45VR-17 Yokohama AVS tires. That is why to look fat/wide on the car.

Can you scan the rest of the second photo in and do you have the Magazine name & date....?

...and I don't think those wheels are 17"....those are Daytona wheels......should be a 16" just like the factory wheels that came on the DSMs...and tires appear to be 225/50/16 rather than the stock 205/55/16.

...I'd love to visit that museum.....

....I've got the first mini article that you have posted and want to compare dates etc......

just a pre-pro piece....car looks wild though....

Even says in the article that they upgraded to a 16" wheel for the turbocharged version. But those definitely look like 225-50's.

It does....and they do!

I was going off of what was stated in the article as far as specs. But they go on to do a special of the Mitsu Roadster also, so that may have been the specs on the Roadster. Good catch though. I will have to see if I have the original magazine, but on the back of the article I have written May of 88. The car debutted at the 1988 LA Auto Show which was January 2 - 10. I still have everything I collected from that day at the show. I wish they would have been handing out those DSM Factory Handouts that mini zilo posted.

Just found the rest of the article and it does state the Roadsters wheels are the 17's. So looks like Phil and ARFWD have the Plymouth coupes wheels figured out.

Good stuff Nathan. Never saw that Archer article. Wish they had the "Championship Edition" Talon pictured with the available BBS RS wheels that would have rocked.

Phil, I agree. A quality scan of the article would be awesome. Would really love to see the DSM logos on their polos and helmets.

Janine, That is some serious DSM love right there.

I really know my way around a dsm, but I really have some catching up to do on the history of these. I did start late in the game though.

Arctic would you be able to post up the rest of that article??

The 2nd photo was just a zoomed up excerpt of the mini-article. I dont recall the magazine name. I will need to look to see if I still have it. Just dates on the back, May 88'.

Here is the rest of the article. The rear end of the car is pretty amazing especially with the dual exhaust flush mounted. My favorite quote from the article,“the excitement aroused by the roadster has inspired Mitsubishi to put a convertible into X2S’s production plans for the future.”

I talked with a guy last week who worked for DSM in the early stages, he was one of the guys who took the Pre Production cars to Auto Shows across the country showing it off...how BADASS is that! he was saying it was one of the most fun cars he has driven to date doing what he does, and got ALOT of attention driving it around on the road on his off time (Sneeking it out of course, LOL)

Phil, found the mag. It is Automobile May 1988.

I have found some of the DSM things I have from work. Including a 5 year anniversary pin.

That stuff is awesome. DSM Union pins who would have thought. Thank you for sharing.

Great minds think alike LOL

I'll have to scan this one in when I get a chance. Its the LA Auto show handout-Jan. 88'. It has a great high quality shot of the front. The detail is great to see.
