Oil Ring Gaps

I have 2g pistons with 1g rods with hastings rings. Is there need to gap the top and bottom oil rings? If so, what should I shoot for? Stock? If so, what are the stock gaps?

a general gap for oil rings is .015 but i have never had to gap oil rings you usualy just gap the first and second compression rings and not the oil.

i agree, but you should just check them to be sure, whats an extra minute right?

Well I checked them and they were really loose, around .025, this was straight out of the box. Why would they be so loose? Does hastings use looser oil rings?

how are you checking the ring gap? if you are cheching the gap correctly i would call hastings and make sure there isnt a mix up with your rings i had it happen to me once there was a screw up with packaging on a group of rings and i ended up getting a miss boxed set of non turbo rings instead of a turbo set.
