so I recently got my block back from the machine shop, and I checked my ring gap, and they are a lot larger than what it calls for in the Chilton manual? i'm using topline pistons with oem size NPR rings, so oem stuff, my goals are to run around 18-23ish psi on my 16g.
my ring gaps:
Cyl #1
ring #1: 0.016
ring #2:0.023
Cyl #2
ring #1: 0.016
ring #2: 0.023
cyl #3
ring #1: 0.017
ring #2: 0.024
cyl #4
ring #1: 0.015
ring #2: 0.022
the Chilton manual however calls for around 0.0098 - 0.0138 for the first ring, and around 0.0157 - 0.0217 for the second ring, and this is different from some places I've read that the second ring gap should be a lot smaller than the first ring? im probably going to file them all down to get get 0.018 for the first, and 0.024 for the second ring as this is what other people are running with similar setups to me, but is there really any disadvantage to having a ring gaps like these?
