I looked at the oil return line and noticed that it had been broken and then what appears to be radiator hosing was clamped on it. This was done by the previous owner. Is this something I should replace right, or leave it be? There was a lot of oil on the flanges, but I dont know if that was due to the tubing or not.

A new POS Aluminum OEM one is $50 - There are some NICE Aftermarket ones from our Vendors for about the same $$ - Only an Oil Grade Hose would hold-up there for any time & some guys have had luck with that rig.

The Lower Flange is bolted onto the Oil Pan via threaded THRU holes - so you MUST have some kinda Crush Washer under the Heads of those Bolts - The EYE off a Copper Electrical Lug works great. If you wring out the The POS Metric Threads on those Fasteners just tap them out to 1/4-20 UNC American.

& where are you at in S.C.?
