I am interested to know if anyone has o-ringed the oil return line? Specificaly the end that bolts to the pan. I am currently going to try this on my car. I will not be able to test it out until I get it put together and running.
I was just curious to know if anyone else has thought of this or tried it. Please give me your input!:thumb:

Sounds interesting. How much labor is involved? Are yopu having problems with the return leaking?

It took me about two hours to do it. I used the -an fitting that came with the line. Marked the flat side of the o-ring. then laid the o-ring on the fitting center to the hole. Press ever so gently as to not mess up the roundness. Make sure you get a good mark on the fitting. Then use a dremel and a round cutting bit to groove out the area you marked. I recommend making the groove only wide and deep enough for the o-ring. I used a o-ring size of I/D=5/8, O/D=13/16, and the thickness is 2.62. I only went half way on the depth of the o-ring. I checked the size of the o-ring to the pan and it is a perfect fit to the hole on the pan.
It also takes a real steady hand, so as not to make unneccesary grooves in the fitting.:thumb:

Interresting Idea.
too much work for me tho, LOL Id just RTV the living hell out of it.

I always out my trusty sheet of heavy duty gasket paper material, trace the flange, razor blade it out, boat both sides with silicone, and bolt her up.

Sounds good. As a diesel mechanic, I've learned that o-rings work way better than gaskets.

Just keep in mind the common sense things: grease o-ring, torque evenly.

Should work great! :thumb:
