When I bought my Tsi, the owner said that the oil return line had broken on the car and he replaced it right after that, but my question is, is the return line supposed to be made out of metal? looking at it now it has a small rubber hose for the return line, now that just dosent seem safe at all to me with the very high temps oil puts out, but I could be wrong.

Depending on what kind of rubber the previous owner used, it could be safe or not, most likely not. Mitsu isn't going to use a $15 piece of metal for something they could have used a 30cent piece of rubber for unless they saw some benefit. Do yourself a favor and get a metal one and weld it to the pan, then you only have to worry about leaks at the turbo, but you can torque those puppies down since it's not soft like the pan. Or try the rubber route, but anyone who uses condoms knows oil rots rubber :), Pushlock is not the same as vaccuum line rubber. Good luck!
