ok, the return line is fine, but the 15 year old oxidised bolts are shot. I need new ones... and I dont want to take it apart first and make it undrivable when its a 5 min job to just replace them instead of just asking here. what are the bolt sizes?

P.S I am no idiot make sure to give me length width and THREAD PITCH... please and thank you :D

Yeah, wow... way for me to pay attention.... it is a 2g I just said 15 years ### I know they are orriginal and I am used to working on 1990 range of cars and its force of habbit. I have new gaskets that I installed but I am a mechanic and I can feel that the bolts are about ready to shear off and they arent in the least bit "Tight" I believe they are at about 5-15 ft-lbs... at least not enough to smoosh the gasket... and yes it is the turbo oil return line from the bottom of the turbo to the side of the oil pan... I found a TON of sites that have a HUGE selection of return line types... none offer new bolts though... and my line is fine its just the bolts...

Thanks and sorry for the confusion...

PS its a '96 Eagle Talon TSI AWD (as if the AWD matters for this)

Drive to a hardware store, take the bolt out, take it in the store and match it.You could have a friend also give you a ride with your bolt already removed..then you don't have to screw with a hot oil line in the parking lot.

This is what I would do instead of waiting for a response.

Also, this is a gravity return pipe - no pressure other than what's in your crank case. If you just want to replace the bolts, you could probably take them out and put new ones in without pulling the pipe off the pan or turbo. If you do remove the pipe, the gaskets on either end are different. ExtremePSI sent me two of the same (turbo end) and I had to go at one of the gaskets for the pan end with an exacto knife to "move" the bolt holes out (not really hard, but annoying).

I wouldn't worry about leaving your car disabled. If you have someone to give you a ride to the hardware store, the whole job can take you 15 minutes. The turbo bolts are the beefier pair of the four, and I probably torqued mine down to ~15lb-ft, but that's a guess based on feel - I didn't use a torque wrench. The oil pan bolts are smaller and probably can't take very much torque. I forget what my Haynes manual said (if anything).

Oh, and update your profile. That helps alot when people know whether yours is 1g/2g, turbo/nt, or fwd/awd.

If you're talking about the bolts on the oil pan side, the bolts are M6 x 20mm. Not sure about the bolts on the T25 though, but on my PTE 50-trim the bolts on the turbo side are M8 x 20mm.

are the M8 and M6 just the grades because I know they arent head sizes... and I get the 20mm but what is the thread pitch 1.25 1.00 1.50???

I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure the M6/M8 represents both the thread pitch and diameter of the bolt/nut. An M6 bolt will thread into an M6 nut regardless of the head size or length. The 2nd number is the length. Nothing to do with material grade. For these, you don't care, becuase they aren't under any real load. You should be able to ask the Ace hardware guy for an M6 20mm bolt, and he'll open a bin with an "M6 20mm - $0.11/ea" label on the front.

M8 & M6 refer to the diameter (8 mm, 6 mm...).

20mm is the length of it, as you already know.

Thread pitch is 1.5, I'm pretty sure. I don't remember it specifying on the box I got it from at Ace Hardware, & the default pitch is 1.5.
