Oil pump question

Well, I got it right off the vfaq....

"Here is the short shaft and small gear inserted back in the front oilpump cover, from the back side. Pack the gears and space in the rear cover with grease (this will prime the oilpump at startup - You can also use Vaseline, white grease, or moly lube. You basically want something thick enough to stay put until you turn the engine over for the first time to prime the pump.). Oil up the short shaft with a touch of clean motor oil and slide the rear oilpump cover onto the front cover. Clean the thread holes and pump cover bolts with brake clean, apply some medium strength Loctite (blue) to the bolt threads and torque them to 12 ft-lbs."

Look at the 1st picture. The gears weren't damaged at all. You can see one of the shavings laying on the plate. But anyway, forgot to mention that I had to hammer out the larger gear cause it didn't wanna come out. Guess it explains why it was getting hard to turn at one spot though. Oh and the shaving is from the case. Not the gear or shaft. Although it's looking kinda chewed up a lil bit.

Aight, well I found the problem. The nut on the oil pump gear on the new pump came off. The gear decided to make a nice new access hole thru the timing belt cover. Almost came all the way off in which my motor would've been toast. The timing belt was all chewed up. Anyway, threw on a new belt and no more problems, no more leaks or seizing.

Still have to see about sending the other pump back though.

Oh yeah, trust me, I did. Might've been one of those slight things I forgot as I was putting it back together in the dark. I hate doing that. It's all good now though.
