How long has it been doing that? Have you done a frequent oil change? Possibly a Factory Gauge problem, or oil pressure sender.....Gotta start somewhere!

+1 on the Aftermarket. I got a aftermarket one, because they are MORE accurate and you save your build at an early problem/stage.

+2 on the aftermarket gauge. Like he stated above, more dependable and safe for you man. I would get like a autometer or well known company. Stay away from sunpro, etc. Just my two cents

If you notice, the oil pressure gauge in both 1G and 2G DSMs is actually separated into three sections. The middle of the L section is where the needle typically sits at idle on a motor that is warmed up, the center of the middle section is where the needle sits when the motor is cold and first started up, and the needle typically sits right about where yours is when cruising at 3K on a warm motor as well. The smallest section, marked H is where the needle would be if your pressure were to be exceedingly high. Its been argued by experienced members on this forum that the factory oil pressure gauges on these cars is the most reliable gauge on the car. The problem is, most dont understand how the gauge is divided into 3 sections the way it is. This is one of the reasons newer cars just use water, volt and oil pressure gauges that are designed so as to have needles that remain centered under optimum operating conditions. I would not be concerned about your oil pressure being high, the guage seems to indicate everything is as it should be, but if youre worried, you could always attach a mechanical gauge to check the pressure. General rule is 10- 18psi at idle when warmed up, and 10psi increase in pressure per 1K RPM increase in engine speed. You can very easily just remove the factory oil pressure sending unit from the oil filter housing, and attach your hose and gauge there to check out the pressure while someone else revs the motor for you.
