I just picked up a PTE 6152e SCM turbo for my DSM, and i was wondering whats the best place to run the oil, Ive been told with Journal Bearing i need to run the feed from the Oil Filter because there isnt enough pressure from the head for Journal Bearings, Another question is how do i now run my intercooler into this new turbo inlet because I just upgraded from a 16g to the Intercooler pipe ran into the turbo. Any help is appreciated so would pics to. Thanks
 
Apparently there is no set location as some guys have fed their PTE journal bearing turbos at the head for years, and others have it fail on them when sourced at the head within the first 500 miles. I'd say to call PTE, ask what they recommend, then ask if they'll warranty the turbo if it blows due to an oiling issue based on the information they give you concerning where to source your oil supply.
 
To run it to your intercooler piping, basically all you have to do is eliminate the j-pipe and run the compressor housing outlet to your piping since the PTE is a down-firing turbo, unlike the 16g.

Actually Justin, I'd say Email them. That way you have instructions and recommendations from them in writing. They can't really argue that you mistook what was said that way!

-10 is what is recommended for a drain. Just make sure that you are not using any 90* elbows as they hinder the gravity draining quite a bit. Another thing to make sure of is that your turbo is clocked correctly so that the drain is facing straight down, ± 5*.

A -4 oil feed is what like to see run on the feed side.

I'm going to piggyback this thread because my question is very similar.

On the OFH, is there a right or wrong port to use? I have an adaptor that I picked up somewhere for the larger plugs, but they absolutely refuse to come out.

One alternative I thought of was the stock oil pressure sender port. Would I get enough flow through there to feed the turbo (HX35)? Or do I need to get one of the plugs out?

Scroll down to Oil supply and drainage. Garret provides some nice information about oil in their turbos. I know you bought a PTE turbo, but figured I could throw this in here for a little more information about oil supply. They have some great information on their website.
 
^ Great info indeed, but still no set minimum / maximum pressure specs for their turbochargers which is information that Garrett's competitors provide.

The only helpful information I can see is "An oil restrictor is generally not needed except for oil-pressure-induced leakage" which is great, but at that point you're fuct anyway because once oil passes between the turbine seal and the housing, it burns and sticks to both parts creating an uneven sealing surface. One you reach this point, you'll be battling oil smoke from then on no matter what you do until the turbo is rebuilt.
 
That was some great info from the garret site, I think that im going to run this from the filter. I have a 90 style filter housing and not 100% sure on when line gets tapped to the feed, btw i also have a external evo8 oil cooler ran from this also.
