Oil Feed Line Leaking

I just swapped out my 14B with a 16G off of a buddies car and now my oil feed line is leaking. It doesn't leak right when I start the car up (which is why I didn't catch it before I pulled the car out of the garage), but it starts coming out from bellow the line. Both of the washers are in there and the bolt is as tight as I can get it without striping it.

Any ideas on this? Are the washer bad? Where can you get them from?

Everytime you remove the oil feed line, it is wise to replace the crush washers. More than likely, that is your problem.

New crush washers can be found at virtually any parts store. You can use either copper or aluminum.

Didn't know that you were suppose to replace them everytime, but I will do it from now on. I know one of the technicians out at our local Mitsubishi dealer and I gave him a call and he is just going to grab me some, so no problem with finding them.

I hope this fixes the problem, I only got to get on it once before I started to smell oil and the car pulled extremely hard. I am ready to see what this new turbo is going to do for my 1/4 mile time.

Sometimes you can get away with re-using them. It depends on their condition. They do actually crush to make a good seal, so it would depend on how much it was crushed down. I've always just replaced them for a good piece of mind (and because they're cheap anyways).

I did check them out before I put them back on there and they didn't look to be messed up. They have been off at least three times though, so I am going to change them out anyway just to make sure. Like you said, they aren't that much even if I had to pay for them.
 
That didn't take care of the problem. I am in the middle of trying to fix it right now and I have brand new washers and it is still leaking. Do I need to get another feed line? It is just really weird because it takes it a little bit before it starts leaking. It will be fine for at least a minute and then oil will just start to build up at the bottom of the line and eventually it will cover the center housing of the turbo.

I believe that it was the banjo bolt. I decided to take it out again and try the other washers to see if they would make a difference and the damn thing just broke in two. Thanks god the bolt was already broken loose or I would have never gotten the rest of the bolt out. The bolt broke right were the hold is drilled through it. I have never seen one do that.

I am actually just going to buy a stainless one feed line from ExtremePSI. I can't afford for this 16G to seize on me just because I wanted to skimp out on a feed line that only costs 40 bucks.

I'm truly amazed. I think that's the smartest thing I've heard someone say in months on here. ROFL

Wouldn't it be great if everyone thought like that???? ROFL It just makes sense to take care of something right the first time.

I never thought about that, but in one of my posts above I said that the bolt actually broke off. I am not going to try to replace it, I already have a stainless line on the way. It actually should be here today. I will let ya'll know how it goes if this takes care of the problem.
 
Be careful with RTV on banjo bolts (stainless steel line or not, they can use a banjo bolt also). You don't want to clog the feed hole.
 
that's not the right way to go about it.

RTV = clogged line = no oil = blown turbo :|

I battled this for a while when I had my 16G on, and reusing the same line for my 50 trim, all I did was use some teflon tape on her and she was good to go :thumb:

I got the stainless line on there and used teflon tape on all the connections and it is working great. No leaks at all. The stainless line that Extreme PSI sell is awesome, a lot better than what I was expecting, but they have done that with everything that I have bought from them. Great company to deal with.
