I just ordered my intake and K & N filter from Dejon and now I'm looking for a Catch Can. Does anyone know where I can get one of these? I have looked on some web sites with no luck, with the exception of (i think) Machv for $99.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also does anyone know if any one sells the rubber window trim that goes on the door for the window. You know the one at the top of the main part of the door on the outside. The black coating has pealed off and looks pretty bad.

VCV: as mentioned earlier a one way valve would make life very easy and I would like to give this a try, but where could I find one for less than $100
VCV catch can: If the entry and exit for the tube are so near what catches the oil, gravity? Wouldnt it be better if valve cover side was lower than the intake side or on the opposite side of the can, or am I missing something here?
 
OK, I have a question. I have a hard intake and only got one inlet fitting for the charcoal can hose. I have a catch can with a filter that I now want to remove. Can I use a Y fitting and tap into that charcoal can line at the intake hard pipe to achieve vacuum for my valve cover and oil can instead of venting with the filter? :thumb: :notgood:
 
I am installing one my self soon. I think I will mount mine to the fire wall just in back of the intake manifold. I was looking at the spot just to the right of the breather outlet on the valve cover, but I have a 90 Eclipse was the cruse control in that spot. There maybe room there for a small can; at least you wont have a lot of hose to run. I've thought of moving the battery to the trunk but it seems like a lot of work. If you do go that rout make sure and do some research on the matter. There are some safety issues having to do with the long power cabling and make sure to get a sealed battery. If you can move the radiator over flow bottle, that may be simpler to gain some space for the can?
 
Once upgrading to a short route FMIC you have plenty of room in the passanger side front bumper. I have my catchcan, coolant overflow and battery in there. You can rig up some cables to a quick disconnect and install the otherend of the connector at your charger (since my car sits 10 months a year anyways I had to do this step). Being everyone in this post is FWD the last thing you want is weight in the back of your car. you want it up front and down low for traction.

I think you need a better idea of what's going on, so please review this thread. Even your original setup (catch can with a filter) is what this thread has been advising against, so now your question is very extraneous.

is your strut bar on backwards? i thought the dip went on the passenger side

mine also has the dip flat spot on the passsanger side. Good spot Gamble!

to answer the original question, its not really worth relocating the battery to the back for a simple catch can, just bolt or ziptie it somewhere near your charcoal cannister under your battery or in that area, or you could remove your charcoal cannister and egr stuff and put the catch can in its place.

Remove the hose between the intake pipe and charocal canister, cap off the filter fitting on the catch can, connect the catch can directly to the intake pipe fitting and leave the canister fitting open. This of course is for the breather side on the valve cover, not the pcv side.
 
DOnt worry about it, with the typical instal instruction we get from half of what we purchase from some companies, I am surprised so many figured it out. Worst thing I had to install was a SAFC in 1999 with no english manual. YEAH! Thank god for this place and other like it. Still like when you get photocopied install instructions for a honda with your Ebay DSM purchase.
 
wow, i have never seen that before. Good work on being creative! Just dont know if i would want a coke bottle in my engine bay, people would be like WTF
 
The lack of vacuum from the charcoal can wont cause any problems, gas smells or pressure in the tank. Is there any reason not to have both the charcoal and the breather tapped into the same line at the intake pipe? Maybe, oil in the charcoal can? I wish I would have ordered my hard intake with 2 fittings, after reading this thread. I don't want to disconnect the charcoal can if there is no GOOD reason to do it. I'm going to run the can how you suggested, you've got the experience. I just have that last question. Thanks for the help!
 
my engine bay is torn apart right now but mine is similar.......i have a gatorade bottle.....and i get lots of comments on it too.....it was jsut cheap and convinient

That is one creative guy! I bought a 10x15 crome sheet metal at home depot and I use it to cover the top of the intake air filter. Works well too!

I still have all of the stock vacuum lines in my car and am looking to simplify things and possibly gain a little more vacuum at idle (12-14 hg/in).Based on the information and reccomendations in this thread and others I came up with this diagram (based from the Taboo diagrams).

What do you think?

1. The top catch can, the can should be on the none pressure side of the pcv valve. Simply put, replace the pcv with a straight fitting and some how thread the pcv valve into the catch can.

VC -> catch can -> pcv vavle -> intake manifold.

2. The BOV line is the worst place to tap for your mbc, leave the bov line un-interupted from intake manifold to BOV, take your pressure source for the mbc from the compressor housing/j-pipe/licp.

The rest looks good.
