Official Bench Racing Thread (how fast is my car/how much HP can I expect)

Ok guys I just want to see what you guys think about my goal. My goal is somewhere between 300-350awhp. If you haven't looked at my profile my mods are :
e316g (got it from forced performance so its not chinese junk),
walbro 190 rewired,
2.5" hard upper intercooler pipe,
hallman MBC,
SAFC2 (not hooked up yet).

My upcoming are 650cc injectors, AEM wideband new headgasket and ARP's, maybe a 264/272 cam setup.....so I just wanted to see if you guys think I have set a good goal for what I have/want
thanks! :thumb:

For some reason I knew this thread was going to involve somebody wanting 350whp as soon as I clicked on it.

Edit: and I see it just got moved to the "bench racing thread."

I guess I just didn't realize how "bandwagon" asking for 350hp is haha sorry but honestly I don't think that should have gotten moved into the bench racing thread, I asked for an opinion on my mods that I have/want, I never asked how much power people think I will have or how fast I will go in the quarter mile

i just want to see the range ill be in with my new set up i have
denso 720cc
dsmlink v3
maft 3in gm
16g
vrspeed fmic
3in turbo back no cat
act2100
shep stage 2 tranny
also the engine has 20,xxx on the rebuild

just want some ideas im also getting it tuned by a local dsm shop

i do believe the dsmlink v3 gives you an estimated hp. Not sure how accurate it is tho. Depending on how healthy your motor is, if you have a rewired pump, how much boost, i would say somewhere in the range of 300hp

Hello everyone I'm new to the site and entering the DSM world.

This weekend I'm getting this car.
92 eagle talon

Can anyone please give me estimated HP/TQ numbers? Also 1/8th and 1/4 mile ET's.

I plan on just to DD this car but I'd like to have an estimate of what it's capable of without tearing it up at the track or spending money on traveling to an AWD dyno.

Thanks everyone.

itll run 10s in the 1/4 on low boost and pushing about a total of 431whp :p

Sry I didn't mean to post a "bench racing thread"..

All I want to know is what I asked above nothing more, nothing less..

If this gets moved where would it be taken to??

I wont tell you what it will do, but I can tell you your limiting factors are going to be the injectors and the tuning system.

I know the stock fuel system can only handle 15-16 pound of boost. i need to know how much whp 16 pounds of boost translates to. i know every car is different, so i dont need an exact number, just an estimate. Mods: 14b, bov, mbc, 3inch catback, no cats, and last a boost gauge. I am going to get my car tuned next week with a safc2. the shop specializes in honda. I asked him how much whp can i get out of the stock fuel system and he said 250 max. I just ignored him and said ok. I know that is not true. so back to the question. whats the max whp on a stock 2g fuel system?

You cannot determine HP by boost alone. This is something coupled with the tuning setup that will be going along with the vehicle. A good tune will provide more HP. A crap tune will provide less power than what you had initially.

250 WHP would probably be an over estimate unless your running meth or something extra. The injectors are the first to max out. If you had bigger injectors I could see 250 WHP but on 450s I am thinking like 215ish-225ish

Every car and setup is different. Only way to tell for sure is use dsmlink or equivilent and monitor fuel and injector idcs.

I agree. Around 220-230 sounds right to me. With some 650's, you would probably see around 310whp give or take. But this is just bench racing. You never know for sure.

Again, this should go with the 'incorrect' question pile.

I would, first of all, look into the details of what a stock pump flows and how efficient it is, not how much HP a fuel pump will provide. It's kind of like asking " How much will this Carbon Fiber hood add to my HP? ". The wing won't provide HP, it'll likely reduce weight and offer better cooling options for the vehicle which will BENEFIT Hp production. See where I'm going with this?

Simple yet elegant.

The stock fuel system doesn't "support 15psi", it only is able to support a certain amount of airflow which will be different between turbos. 15psi on the T25 and the stock 2g fuel map is much different than 15psi on a 14b with the 2g fuel map.

All in all, with the 14b you will not safely be able to increase to much more than 14psi before you reach 100% IDC which if the tuner is smart will realize is happening due to the AFR getting leaner. The reason they are getting lean is the injectors are maxed out, staying open (not pulsing) and the airflow is much higher than what the ECU is able to control to keep at the preset fuel trim.

I wouldn't bother getting a tune until you get a larger pump and larger injectors as there will be very minimal gains within the safe zone.

Get yourself some 650s and either a 190lph pump or the Evo pump and you'll be fine to go and tune. Hopefully you have a way to log the motor and have a wideband installed at least.

Injectors
450cc @ 100% IDC will support 32.30lbs/min

Stock 2g pump (Rewired)
10psi = 42.08lbs/min
11psi = 41.51lbs/min
12psi = 40.92lbs/min
13psi = 40.30lbs/min
14psi = 39.67lbs/min
15psi = 39.00lbs/min
16psi = 38.32lbs/min
17psi = 37.61lbs/min
18psi = 36.88lbs/min
19psi = 36.13lbs/min
20psi = 35.35lbs/min
21psi = 34.55lbs/min
22psi = 33.72lbs/min
23psi = 32.88lbs/min
24psi = 32.01lbs/min
25psi = 31.11lbs/min

If you want to crunch numbers:

TDO5H-14B-6CM2 405 CFM @ 15psi
That's 32.6832 lb/min @15 psi

Therefor, at 15psi your injectors are no longer pulsing and are staying 100% open at WOT. There is no tuning adjustment. You want your injectors to ideally see no more than 80% IDC which would equal:

324 CFM = 26.1468 lb/min

So to be at 80% IDC you want to run 12 psi of pressure.
