OEM Halfshaft vs Napa Halfshaft

Should I purchase the OEM for $274 or do I buy the Napa reman for $73. My car is around the 300whp range and will see some track time this summer. I can't see spending the additional 200 dollars unless it is going to take 3 times the abuse. The Napa, I believe was only a limited lifetime warranty.

Thats not a ton of power, I wouldnt really worry about running the reman shaft...usually just means they grind it a little, still made out of steel and is solid, cant really be bad unless its cracked which they wouldnt sell

DO NOT BUY THE NAPA PIECE. It's not the correct size. I just had a buddy with a 97 GSX go through this ordeal. It ended up he had to have it rebuilt buy a local axle shop. The napa part is too short. If you do a search there is an entire thread on here about it that you can read if you feel like. There is 4 different axles for your car depending on what you have as far as AWD vs. FWD and something else that i can't remember right now. If you can have yours rebuilt. It's your best bet.

Napa used to use CCT for their axles, which used to be the number one company for reman axels. They just recently went out of business. I am not quite sure who they are going with now. I'm sure napa just gave them the wrong part number. CCT was used by carquest, advance, napa, and a whole crapload of different autopart distributors.

Anyway, I would try advance autoparts They are now selling brand new axles for not to bad of a price. About 70 bucks if i remember correctly. Give them a call.

I would go with the reman axle. I replaced a cv axle myself and I tried 4 different axles before I found the right one. I eventually had CarQuest take the axle and they brought me back one with no box so I'm not sure on the part # but it has been working fine for 4+ months now.

Yeah, I got an autozone one for about $60, and the boot came loose and they got me another for free, even though the first one they tried to give me was twice as long as the one I had in my hand for the core...

Go to Shucks and get a reman. axle witht he lifetime warranty. Every time you break it or snap it they will give you another one for free. My brother has been doing this fro years with his accord last year alone he snapped 8 sets of axles all at the track except 1 was launching with 18s and really really bad wheel hop. And they are dirt cheap.

I ended up just putting it back together, there is no visible damage that I can see. Im assuming the boot came loose, let out all the grease and they managed to come apart. Motor mounts are all in good shape, very strange Ill will repost to let you all know whether or not it holds up.

Replaced both my fronts with axles from napa. No probelms. I believe the warranty is 12 month/12,000 mi.
