Odd whistling noise...

I have a 91 GSX with the stock 1g bov, here lately it seems that right around 3300 RPM or so, at least that's where I've noticed it...it seems to make a whistling sound. It sorta sounds like the noise the bov makes when you shift, but it's before I shift. Is this a common problem? Maybe the bov is leaking or something, I don't know. It doesn't hurt performance, at least that I've noticed.

Eh it's no biggie I guess...I'm eventually taking the turbo off in favor of an Evo 16g :)

I'd check for Boost leaks, that would be my best guess.
Agreed, how do you know it's the BOV and not a boost leak around the BOV?

I just wanted to say that my 1g BOV does this same thing. It's like a ringing metal noise. Happens around 18 vac. Getting worse too. Someone said the spring might be getting old and loose or something.

I had this problem with my 1g bov as well. I guess the spring just got worn out. Once i got a different bov the sound went away.

Im having the same problem right now...my car will boost to about 18psi and then the bov will flutter, while still under load, and then finally peg out around 22psi. the wierd thing is, i had the same problem with my greddy type s bov.

I checked for boost leaks and leaks have since been fixed. Problem still exists.

There also is a low toned whistling sound between 0 and 10 vaccum.
