From the reviews I've seen on most octane boosters is that they help prevent some knock but using "more" doesn't always help like using race gas. Some people have complained that it has made turbo exhaust wheels turn "whitish" as if they had been running extremely lean... using true higher octane gas would be better and cheaper than running octane booster. I would only recommend using it if you have crappy gas on fillup and need the few extra octane to prevent knock.

A simple search of octane booster on this site would net you a bunch of discussions on octane booster. A little info before you search ;) Most octane booster out there are a little deceiving in their claims. Take for example they claim a 10 octane point gain, great so you fill up with 94 octane, add the booster & you now have 104 octane, right? Wrong. What they don't tell you is there are ten octane points to one octane, so instead of 94 you have 95. Alot of the time they aren't worth what you pay for them, if you want to see real gains race fuel or meth injection is the way to go. Now they are a couple versions out there that do make a noticeable difference. The NOS brand offroad racing formula adds up to 60 octane points or 6 octane, which is a nice bump but it really starts to add up as it costs around $15 CDN a bottle here.
