OBX Turbo's?

I just ordered a 25g obx turbo and I've bought some obx parts in the past but never a turbo......If anyone has used them or has a comment to post about them feel free I want to know if it's worth a crap!!!

Junk. Ask or SEARCH before you buy. Anything other than brand name turbo's are worthless. Aside the OBX ramhorn manifold. That thing actually works.

I was going to say, wow thats cheap, even for a DSM owner (trying to make 500hp on a el'cheepo junk turbo) but then I looked at the link. Now I changed my comment to, wow are you crazy Almost $500 for a "knock off", probably fail in no time OBX turbo? That money could have bought a much better, actually proven turbo or atleast made a good dent in the bill depending on the turbo you choose.

A friend of mine threw one of those on his VW. It lasted about a month.

Are you made of money???? At the rate these things last you will spend more than enough to fund a Holset Twin scroll setup or a Proven Fp turbo or a MHI 16g.WTF 500 bucks can get you a HX35, the bolton housing and at least leave enough to get you started, if not all the way, done plumbing the beast to get the right oil press. Horrible buy many many many more choices and more reliable options for that much. P.S. How long do you plan on running 500 HP because cheaping out on such parts will not last long at all and thats if you put them all on at the same time!!!

Do your self a favor and throw it back on ebay when it arives. Youll probably be able to get most of your money back.

Well I was going to buy an hx35 turbo all along....I went to buy it and it sold this morning... I'm not going to throw 1200 on a turbo I'm only going to use once for the next year and a half and I'm running out of time to get the build done before I leave. All the turbo has to do is make the power and hopefully a few times down the track. I'm going to get a ligit turbo next dont you guys worry about that!!!! I will be the guinea pig on this one and see if are truely worth anything at all.....Dont you worry guys I'll take the bullet on this one hahahahaha!!!! Thanks

There are holsets in the classifieds section in the $300 and below price range. Heck, there are some freshly rebuilt holset's on eBay for $349 shipped right now.

Well I researched them and I really didnt hear from anyone that has actually used one.....Go ahead call me a dumbass.....If it takes my motor out I'll just build another one over time guess what just more fun for me. I will laugh if they turn out to be a good buy because everyone saying they are junk have never had one. Guys on subaru sites didnt have anything bad to say about them. And they didn't talk trash to other members so please keep those kind of comments to yourselves. By bullet I meant me spending the money to actually find out for sure instead of just assuming for everyone. Thanks guys!!!

Made in china turbocharger by OBX = no need to assume. Your CHRA will die in less than 500 miles.

my buddy had a obx 20g on his subby and it lasted about 3000 miles and the thing had more in and out play than anyone has ever seen!!!!!! they are junk!!!!

Took about 400 miles and one pass down the dragstrip for Dave and I to learn that Chinese turbos aren't what they're cracked up to be.

Same driver, same car, same engine and supporting mods won the Bracket 1 class at the DSM Shootout a year later with a Holset HX35 bolted to the manifold. Total cost for the Holset = $585 ($350 for the turbo, $235 for the Bullseye T3 turbine housing). Not a bad accomplishment for a diesel turbo that some guys think are total junk.

I've been punching my self in the balls trying to convince myself not to buy it after all of you guys let me know what you really thought so Boosted98gsx really got me thinking by calling me a dumbass so everyone ignore what I said about not posting post like he did because it really made me stop and think.....and I'm just going to take a hit and take a bad rating on ebay and stay away from it. I'm going to get a holset hx35 for sure.....listen to this though our local tuner said that an hx35 is only good for 350-400 max and I'm pretty sure there are people out there that have exceeded that by quite a bit with the holset hx35.
