ok, what happened to this company?

Since when does obx turn around from making rice parts to making LSD's, cams, manifolds, headers and NOW intercoolers, which are btw, EXACT replicas of APEXi????

I mean its almost as if they literally, take a product, CLONE it, and sell it for 1/3 the price

The products look nice, but WTF???

Why does the upper pipe look like a drunk monkey made it?

When I had a Greddy pipes and the Apex'i core that upper pipe was alot straighter.

I won't knock it but I just can't see buying an FMIC and still having all that piping.

So how does it run??? better worse or the same as a smic?

You gonna dyno it and if so do u have the dyno resualts before u installed it let me know

thanks

looks nice needs to level it out but no big deal

Well, it goes around some support beam so you don't have to remove or cut it....also, the apex'i core if I'm right is like the greddy 24r and the pipe goes across the front of the intercooler. I'm not sure though, but I think that's why it's so straight....

It runs very strong now, big increase over the sidemount. I did dyno my car before the install at 182.6hp and 204.3tq and that is with an intake filter only and the blow off return tube taken off. I can't dyno again until early march because I am leaving on a trip with the Navy to Reno, but I will as soon as I get back....

so why wont this kit work on the n/t cars????

looks like it should fit to me, but then again im new to this whole turbo shizz

So basically, you spend $500 and you still are stuck using the most resprictive part is the IC piping. VVVVVVV

The piping doesnt look horrible (even though it is the long route). IMO, the core looks like junk, but I cannot comment on it's performance yet. I dont really like how the inset rows of fins stick out. That is what makes them very week, and extremely seceptible (sp?) to being damaged (well, more than others).

Here's a quick comparision to a SBR FMIC; just from what you can see.

SBR's comes with short route piping unlike this one.
SBR's comes with the UICP flanged of your choice. This kit has no UICP.
SBR's comes with a 2.5" TB Elbow (extremely nice, also). OBX does not include one.
SBR includes the stronger T-bolt clamps instead of OBX's standard worm clamps.
SBR's have strong, welded-on brackets that allow it to mount sturdy and level. OBX's mounts appear to be somewhat 'universal', allowing the IC to be less study and crooked.

And SBR's has been proven with numbers..... Hopefully someone can get some flow numbers on this OBX.....

IDK, maybe it's just me. I've seen many, and used some of OBX products and I've never been impressed with quality and/or performance. That and I really respect the quality fabricated work of my DSM vendors.... :thumb:

Paul Up close your paint job looks crazy!

Finally PIX I C... I don't think that is the same OBX core I was looking at on ebay... there is another core its like 25 x 12 x 3 and its only 179.99 buy it now... anyone got that yet?

The FMIC i just got is installed I just need piping for it now, ill post some pics

Its too bad its slanted, it looks like shiz like that....ghettoooo ass

Like I said, you can get it straight, but as soon as you hit a bump it moves back in place because as you can see from the pics, the brackets are bolted on and they are on the sides versus the top where most are. I already got a quote on a bracket to make it level, $25 for the bracket and to be welded so it isn't that big of a deal......

It might would work with a 420a with modification, but the intake is on opposite sides and you will have to turn the intercooler around.....

Well, I am pissed that it doesn't come with an upper ic pipe, but for $500 who's complaining....The intercooler fins are spaced apart and bend easily, but the over performance is noticable. This kit definetly needs t-bolt clamps, the band clamps that come with it do not hold very well. I won't be able to show flow numbers, but I will show you dyno numbers of before and after with video proof....I totally agree though, I'm sure a $1000 fmic is better than this one, but for us guys that don't want to make 10 second passes, this one is great!!! :thumb:

can anyone post a pic of what a 420a intercooler core looks like, so i can make sure i buy the right one

by the ways guys...krlyuzh and 98turbo that posted pics and replies is the same person...its just that i signed on his computer as krlyuzh and now we cant log out at ALL its weird so at work he can get on his as 98turbo but at home he has to post with mine krlyuzh....sorry for any confusion....and yeah you acn feel the difference alot, and you DO want to tighten those clamps...we were stuck on the side of a highway with like 10 cars pulled over in the middle of the night until 3 am after a meet when one of the pipes slid off and the car died and it was a mess...so yeah. by the way while he's gone im going to be posting a his video i put together and edited...its about 15 minutes long and about 120mb but its well worth it even though the car is pretty much STOCK back then...i just need to fnd a host that would host the vid for me for free...(if anyone knows let me know)

So will these couplings that came with it really not work even if i tighten them down

The couplings work find, its just that if you don't tighten down the clamp as tight as you can get it, then when you boost, the pressure will blow the pipe out. The night I blew mine, it wasn't one of the ones they gave me, I had to compromise because I was short one and use an intake coupler, which isn't made to handle pressure like that and I blew a whole though it.

yeah, kinda wierd getting a front mount without upgrading from the stock UICP and T-25 first...

Well, like I said before, I thought this kit came with the uicp, but to my suprise it didn't. As for the turbo, I'm looking for a 16g now, but what the point in upgrading a turbo with that shitty sidemount and stock exhaust. I doing fmic, turbo, exhaust, and then electronics....

is the bumper rebar on or off? have you tried putting it back on to see if it fits with it on?
i wouldn't really like to just have a bumper cover on without an acutal bumper. i see in the pics also that the piping went all the way to the turbo outlet? the lower intercooler pipe came with the kit as well?
