ok, what happened to this company?

Since when does obx turn around from making rice parts to making LSD's, cams, manifolds, headers and NOW intercoolers, which are btw, EXACT replicas of APEXi????

I mean its almost as if they literally, take a product, CLONE it, and sell it for 1/3 the price

The products look nice, but WTF???

how can you possibly do this? At these prices? Legally????

Some people need to stop being little bitches and shut the hell up. I am ditching my starion I/C and going with this obx too.

on the 1st or 2nd page someone said the ybought one a while ago and really likes it.

also said the welds looked good and overall the IC was a good buy... why do you guys keep saying noone has got it yet...

go read the first few pages carefully.

I will prolly buy one unless I can score under 300 bucks for the same size @ a local place

We are just saying nobody has posted pics or a good review of it. Just because someone has it doesn't mean it helps us out at all. I want to make sure everything is ok before I even consider this intercooler.

Ive been lookin for one, and if I see some pics up close for the quality, i will be right there buying one also :thumb:

He didnt give a review. He said he has one and it looks good. Thats not a review. I would want to know what it all came with, how well the install was, if it pressure tested well, if it flowed well, etc..... That's the kind of review people are waiting for.....

Exactly...just because some kid said it looked cool is not good enough for me. In order for me to even consider this over a good SBR or similar set-up, I want to see some good numbers for it as well as some good pics of the core and the install. In the pics I see online, the cooling fins seem a bit spread apart towards the end-tanks...

But like I said, I would like some reviews before I think positively/negatively towards it.

99GST_Racer : I wouldn't be talking so negatively about OBX if my car had altezzas and a double aluminum wing on it... but I bet they're from a company who did R&D testing ? Did you see a large gain on the dyno?.. :thumb:

This is ridiculous. I personally don't like how his car looks, but flaming him over something like that is crossing the line. What do purely visual modifications have to do at all with an untested, unproven IC?

If you look at any other IC vendor, they have flow, pressure drop, and efficiency data to go along with the core. OBX has failed to provide any of this. A lot of you expect it to be better than the stock smic. What are you basing this on? If they don't even care enough to do basic testing, you expect them to make a good product? I don't know about you guys, but it seems to me that if they don't even care about basic testing, probably all they care about are selling it and making a profit. So what if it's even worse than stock, they've already got your money.

I just can't support something like this. Business is business, and everyone is out to make a buck. But you can't compare what they're doing with this IC to guys like Martin and stampy. Yeah, you might pay a little(or a lot) more to order parts from one of these guys. But you're buying something that is proven. You're buying from a vendor, who as you can see just from this thread is working not just to make a buck, but to help and advance our community. And if you have problems? I'm pretty sure TSF or AMS are going to offer you a hell of a lot better post-sale support.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for saving money. Some things are absurdly overpriced, like the K&N FIPK($120 for a $40 filter and a $5 adaptor?), or the B&M short shifter. But when you're talking about something complicated that requires a hell of a lot of R&D and testing such as an IC, that's one area to not skimp on.

I had to get in on this one,
That I/C will support 350hp no problem, Shane when you get that I/C in bring your car by and I will hook that thing up take some picks and put this to rest.......I will swing by motorsport and pick up an Apex core so we can take some pic's of the welds, fins, tanks and other parts of the kit.

I squeezed 365whp through 2.25" pipping and a Starion I/C and it had a ton of torque

When all else fails build your own stuff its alot of fun.
put down the key board and pick up a welding helmet!

As for the "Rice" look.........the only external body modifications I like are fake tits :D

Look, let's not start this again. This thread was originally started just to get numbers and pics on the obx fmic, not for everyone to put there 2 cents in. If you don't like it, start a new thead!! If you do like it, start a new thread!! If you have pics or numbers regarding the performance, then post here. No one cares if apex'i, greddy, hks, blitz, or any other big name company is better, we just want to know how good is the Obx. No matter what you or anyone says on here about it, you are gonna end of making you OWN decision. So how about everybody just shut the hell up unless you have pics or numbers......Ok, I'm done now.... :thumb:

Sounds like a deal :) I will order it asap.

will this IC work on a n/t GS running a 16g setup???

also will that OBX manifold work with the 16g??

Hahn 16g btw

well damn that sux, so what IC do i need to run, or do i just need to buy one and have the all the piping done custom??

it was a manifold, kinda looked like a set of headers but it had a port to mount the Turbo onto.

it was a couple of pages back on this thread

Ok guys, I got the damn thing and it's installed!! It went together fairly easy, the front mount itself bolted right up without any mods, the only thing is that it sits a little unlevel. I tried for like 30 minutes to make it even and it ain't happening unless I weld another bracket on it, but it's not bad. The piping ran smoothly, I didn't have to cut anything and it doesn't hit anything. The pipe that goes across the top of the intercooler has a bracket on it that bolts to a hole right beside one of the headlight bolts. It's very sturdy, but be careful of the fins, because the bend VERY easily. Now for the bad, this kit does NOT come with the upper intercooler pipe. I know some of the auctions says it does, but it doesn't because I personally called obx to confirm. Also my kit came a coupler short. The one that you connect the lower intercooler pipe to the turbo. Do NOT use an intake coupler, you have to buy a high pressure coupler or you will blow the hell out of a regular one. I know already from experience and your car will not run!! I had to duck tape my pipe to my turbo and limp home. It took me and a friend about 3 hours to install the fmic, but that's after I stood around scratching my ass trying to figure out how the piping ran because it doesn't come with instructions and I was under the impression that it came with the upper pipe!! You have to discard your bumper support and all the black plastic pieces that direct air to your radiator because they get in the way. You need to trim a little bit on the bumper to get it back on, but it's not a lot. I WILL have pictures up, I have already taken them, but I'm tryin to get better ones so you guys will understand better and do the install faster than I did. If you have any questions, just post and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge. Oh yeah, be sure you tighted down the clamps as tight as you can because they WILL blow off if you don't!! :thumb:
