ok, what happened to this company?

Since when does obx turn around from making rice parts to making LSD's, cams, manifolds, headers and NOW intercoolers, which are btw, EXACT replicas of APEXi????

I mean its almost as if they literally, take a product, CLONE it, and sell it for 1/3 the price

The products look nice, but WTF???

how can you possibly do this? At these prices? Legally????

How much is the kit? I have a cheap OBX boost gague and it was dirt cheap. I can only imagine the price on that intercooler.

Keep in mind that the world will come to an end when someone says OBX and Good Quality in the same sentence.

Hell, if it works it's well worth it!

$499 BRAND ####ING NEW

I dont know, they are coming out with a eclipse LSD in january 05...for 95-99gst, REPLICA of the quaife...so go figure

I heard obx is turning around so who knows

You gotta remember, the apexi costs $1200 because people are ricers and they love APEX so they will pay

SO who knows, what if the apex intercoolers cost apex $100 to make?? LOL, and their profit margin is 1200%

Who knows, maybe the aftermarket world will change for hte better, cheaper parts, no more stupid retarted profit margins

to tell you the truth the best place to buy OBX stuff is online

their website has NOTHING, none of the new things, 10% of all their stuff made is there, it sux

Source it out, find it, ebay is the best spot i found though...LOL

Just so all of you guys can consider yourself warned a really good friend of mine just took that exact same manifold (designed for the B18 Honda motor) off of his Civic hatch because of the AWFUL design quality of it. The welds continually cracked and leaked (to the point that right before the manifold was taken off, the runners were actually ready to crack away from the flange entirely), even after they were re-welded about 5 times. The manifold does look like a really nice piece- there's no arguing that- but for performance I would definitely look elsewhere. Just my opinion from personal experience... :barf:

we know, its just weird

do some ebay searching on obx, you will not find 1 original product, EVERY SINGLE PRODUCT they make, literaly, you will find an EXACT replica of from a well known manufacturer, like sparco, momo, apex, greddy, hks, etc.... i mean EVERYSINGLE product, its really weird how they are able to do this without getting in trouble, its mind boggling.

I mean they have seats that they actually call the SAME name as sparco, as well as being the exact replica, they have steering wheels that are replicas of momo and sparco, they have an exhuast for a focus that is 110% a copy of the hks exhuast for 1/4 the price!!!

ive also noticed that the obx boost gauge has the exact styling of the autometer gauge. I was going to get it since its only $25 for the indiglo one which looks pimp IMO, but i need a matching EGT gauge and i was told that they are in the process of developing that.
Well...Piss hell i hate waiting.

dont they have a header for the 1g thats not a copy, or is it a copy of the borla one?

i just read up on the IC on ebay. The add states that they are using the same GT core with all its special characteristics as the one sold by apexi.....maybe they got those cores on a small contract for dirt cheap from the original manufacturer and made thier pipes using same measurements/bends as Apexi. I hope i dont sound like im working for them...LOL

does look good though...it would be a good buy for someone on a budget....me ;)

I have the boost gague. I dont know how accurate it is tho  It seems a bit off. But it looks awesome!

the OBX manifolds are made by SS autochrome from what ive been told. And weve all hear the bad stuff about them. But theyres a website dedicated to why the OBX manifolds are junk somewhere.

Well I think that OBX and SSautochrome just buy from the same source in china or wherever they get that garbage.

I was looking at that too .. jsut looks too "homemade" for my taste though. I just got the cast sbr mani and love it.

If your buying that for reasons other than trying to look bling. You will be dissapointed. Theyres a website on that very T3 manifold by OBX. Measure the runner size, collector size where runners meet, and thickness of tubing. Youll probly cry.

I have the t3/t4 manifold from ssautochrome and I am telling you it is solid. Mind you it looks better than the obx mani shown in this thread earlier. I had a pasesetter that caught fire then the gaskets melted. That is just not the case with this one. Even the performance shop that I go to was impressed with it.

1. Maybe the other companies are just ripping us off? I mean when you can buy a PAIR of headers for a big block V8 at or below the cost of our headers, there is something wrong if you ask me.

Good old supply and demand, if we pay it, they will charge us for it!

2. They probably just reversed engineered their products off of the other companies. Unless the product is patented, there is no legal protection against someone taking your product and duplicating it. With digitizers a person can “scan” the actual part, and “reverse” the data to create a design that can be used for manufacturing.

We used to do this all the time with plastic vacuum formed consoles that we made for new fork lifts. We would take models from the designers; digitize the model to make the mold for production parts. Good to see some competition if you ask me.

3. As far as the fabrication, not too hard these days to bend pipe and make nice welds. The investment would be low, and when spread out over a “target” quantity, actual cost would not be that high. I bet a quality header can be manufactured for less than, hmmmm, $75…..just guessing from my automotive engineering days when I did the product quotes. Most of the cost would be in the material, especially if your using a 300 series stainless.

Personally I have always thought the cost for equipment on these cars is ridiculous, but that is what the market will bear, so that is what they will charge us. :laser:
