O2 sensor wont back out???

Ok, I ordered a new NGK oem style O2 sensor for my new TSi and got it today to finish up the tuneup. But I can NOT get the damn old one to come out. I have the correct socket to remove O2 sensors, It fits well, but the stupid thing will NOT break lose!

Anyone have any tips? I have tried puting a 3' long extention & socket over the wrachet to put a but load of torq on it. And it looked like the wrachet was about to snap from it. So then I tried our impact wrench which puts out about 110ft/lb of torq. STILL WILL NOT back out. WTF?

the 110ft. lb impact is your problem as was mine, it took a 480 ft. lb rated one at 140 psi to get mine out of my o2 housing, basicly, you ran into one of the major beeotches with our cars, your just gonna have to fight with it, or find a bigger impact wrench

I had the same problem too, but I was replacing my 02 housing. So I just took out the housing and then took off the 02 sensor.

My advice:

Take out the fan on the driver's side(three bolts and unplug a wire connection), this makes it alot easier to work with. I also was using the 02 sensor socket but it seemed to strip my 02 sensor, so I had to use a big 21mm wrench to get mine out.

Anyways, good luck.

Maybe use some liquid wrench.
