I have a few ?'s about o2 sensors. I'm due for an o2 sensor, im getting 17mpg at best. I'm willing to bet its my sensor.

A. Which one is it. Before or after cat. I think before?? But how would I know. (Possibly a nub question, I know)

B. You can buy o2 sensors w/o the plastic wiring harness. I looked at my current sensor and it looks like 4 wires. Is that correct? Would anyone recommend getting a simple 4 wire o2 sensor (for 2/3 the price) and fitting it to original plastic harness.

C. I know I eventually need a wideband setup. If I just got an AEM UEGO kit would I be able to use it w/o DSMlink or any management upgrades. (just until I can afford an upgrade)

Mostly stupid questions, but I guess I gotta ask before, rather than after.
Thanx!!

a)there is no way to know with out testing. Odds are its the front sensor.
b)yes you can buy a universal o2 sensor to save some money.
c)you dont need a dsmlink to run a wideband.

My o2 was going out (1G) and I wanted a WB anyway. So I went with the Zeitronix. Got the WB and a simulated narrowband output that worked great as a replacement for my stock o2.

YMMV, but I haven't heard of many negative reports on people using the simulated narrowband (and since my stock one was going out... couldn't hurt LOL

It's working fine for me so far...

EDIT:

I should add that I'm not sure on the differences between a 1G and 2G with the simulated narrowband, but I don't remember seeing anything that raised any flags.

If you want a cheap OEM o2 sensor go to sparkplugs.com, I got the front Denso one for about $60 shipped. I just got it like a couple weeks ago, it cleared the CEL. It is most likely your front o2 sensor, the rear rarely goes out.

I was getting terrible gas mileage, I still am, but I don't think it was o2 related.

Make sure you have the o2 socket to get it out.

*EDIT* - I wish I would have known about that place that MaxPSITalon linked to, free shipping, and its also cheaper.
