Brian, check out Earls Pro-Lite 350 hose. I haven't used it personally, but I sell quite a bit of it to many of my drag racing customers. It's known for being one of the most lightweight hoses available and they all say it's very durable and damage resistant as well. They say it doesn't fray any worse than the steel braided stuff if you're good at cutting it and it's much easier to cut in general. I know it's not cheap, though. I believe Shep uses the same hose in his engine bay.

I've been debating redoing my -16 radiator hoses with black hose and fittings. If I do go through with it, I plan to use the pro-lite 350 hose, so I'll let you know how I like it.

Paul, we're debating between the Earl's Pro-Lite 350 and the Russell's ProClassic. They're very similar, but I'm leaning towards the Earl's. Thanks for sharing your customers feedback!

I don't think you can go wrong with either of those choices. BOTH are great quality hoses. I have used and assembled both brands. Both choices are very durable and extremely flexible. Far easier to handle and assemble then stainless line.

the ONLY one thing that pops into my mind worth mentioning is that the Russell Pro Classic has a slightly thicker wall then the Earls. Not too much of a biggie except for when I tried to use the pro Classic with Mr Gasket Shadow Series fittings. I just wasn't happy with the "feel" of the line paired with that specific fitting.

I used the Russell Pro Classic line on my car with Russell fittings.
