hey guys im in a on going project of an nt going turbo and i saw and looked that to my knowledge the nt tranny is weaker thant the turbo and can be broken in the future. For now i only plan at running stock injectors and 14b turbo at 9psi-11psi producing like 200hp something like that but no more than that.im wondering what options i got of doing with this tranny if i plan to go with more hp in the future?

n/t trans is weaker than the turbo trans? WTF :hmm: :ohdamn: The turbo transmissions arent very good either dude. Ive went through 3 others have gone through over 20. Are you planning in racing your car or just driving it on the street? It really dowsnt matter if its 200 horsepower or 500 horsepower if you race it you gotta be prepared for it to break. It should hold together fine if youre not real rough on it and just drive it on the street. If you plan on going more horsepower i'd suggest looking into getting a pt cruiser trans

To answer your question.

Yes, the N/T transmission is said to be weaker. I just recently replaced the broke transmission with a different one.

So yeah, it is weaker, but I havnt had any real problems. (The old transmission had around 240k on it, 2nd gear syncro gone and 3rd was on its way out.)

oh! ok! i plan on using it for street driving only.woah! that got me by surprise! are you sure the pt cruiser tranny fit a 1g??

I would suggest you check with IPT on the trans and it's capabilities. Any trans that can go 240k is not a weak trans. There a lot stronger than people think!!

I think they are under the impression you're running a 2g with a 420A. There's no way you are going to fit a PT criuser transmission.

Frankly those people who go through 20 transmissions just can't drive. I put 350-400 HP through a KM206 transmission, and the only problem I had was traction in the lower gears, and clutch slippage in the higher gears. It did have a posi insert in it, so I imagine that probably helped prevent my front diff from blowing apart.
I have since sold that transmission to a friend (with a N/T), and he has put at least 10-15k on it, still no problems.

The turbo flywheel and clutch don't fit those transmissions *(from what I've read), so your biggest barrier will likely be a slipping clutch, however ACT does make a N/T clutch set that is rated for around 400 lbs/ft of torque. The standard clutch won't be an issue untill you start modding.

*BTW: You may be able to do some experimenting with different clutches and flywheels. I bought a different starter plate when I switched from the N/T KM206 to the AWD W5M33, but it turned out to be the same plate. That tells me that the ring gears are the same diameter, so if the AWD flywheel and clutch clear the bellhousing, then maybe it could be used in the FWD transmission.
