I wanted to share with everyone the recent SCORE that I got off of Ebay. I have a cracked exhaust manifold and wanted to upgrade to a header. I hesitantly purchased the 4-2-1 Stainless Steel header from SureWinProducts. eBay

2-1-SS-HEADER_W0QQitemZ280418036569QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item414a37ab59

This thing is AWESOME!!!!!! Header flange is around 1/2", and all other flanges are around 3/8". It comes with all the hardware and gaskets. For $100 shipped, it is unbeatable. Lastly, when I opened the box, I was suprised to find Megan Racing stickers.

I'll be posting a video once I get the car running so everyone can see it and hear it without the cat.

Look here to see some pics of this super bad a$$ header!!!!

Can you post a pic for us to see? I can't see how this can turn ugly. I can see that it could "blue" because it's stainless steel, but I'm not sure why it would get ugly. Seems to be a great looking piece for now. Did you get yours from SureWinProducts too? This is a name brand piece, sold at a resonable price.

High quality stainless steel header made by T304 Stainless Steel, Mandrel Bent Tubing, and CNC Machine Flanged.
These Stainless Steel Exhaust Headers are made for:

# Mitsubishi Eclipse Talon 1989-1994 Non Turbo Only!

# Engine type: 4G63 2.0L DOHC Non Turbo

Each set is tested and dynoed to make sure that the fitment and performance meets our goals.

Its basically the same for any vendor. Unless its from a brand, like megan racing and pace setter.Mine is a no name.

I had the same header for my NT talon 91. I think it was made by pacesetter. I painted it with black bbq paint. After a while the paint started to fade and corrode, so I had it ceramic coated. It looks gorgeous after that.

But yea it will get discolored after a while, start to turns purple and blues then spots stated to appear. Might have been the quality of the metal or the fact it was less then 75 bucks for a SS header.

OK, I hesitated to state, but in fact in my box was a Megan Racing Sticker. I didn't want to sway anyone's judgement one way or another. I have 50 miles on my new build. The header has started to "blue". It is a high quality header, and I am super happy with it. I'll keep you all posted on this, but I think I will be OK with my $100 Megan Racing header.

Post some pictures of you engine bay when you have the time, together with the new headers.Im not trying to spend too much money on my car right now.I am fixing a 1g tsi awd too right now.All the excess parts from the talon could be used to turbo my car.All i need is a 14b and a exhaust manifold.I could use the talons stock IC piping and sidemount.Already have the talons old ECU, injectors.

Edit: Oh ok , i already saw in your gallery that you uploaded a picture. Looks bright and shiny.Good buy man ;)

Mine was supposed to be polished stainless too but after 2 weeks it was rusty, turns out it was just lighty chromed was completely rusty after 2 months, now i'm not sure about this but i don't think stainless turns colors when it gets hot, chrome does turn colors and titanium turns colors, but it was still $100 worth of header and test pipe it all fit well without too much trouble put in on in an hour. but my CAI was good after a little modification and an imitation k&N filter

Thats a nice CAI setup you have there.I wanted something similar, more like the INJEN intake that was up for sale a few years ago,now i only get junk, and look what i ended up with. The 90 degree bend is hitting the batterybox.

As for your headers, seems they tricked you into buying that one.Ceramic coat it.Buy some header wrap, and spray some more ceramic coat on the wrap. Its good for under hood temps.Which helps your CAI

great looking engine man.

I drove a NT for about a year and a half until I got a 91 TSI AWD. My set up was similar, I had the hard piping intake and the 4-1 SS header, I used a megan test pipe instead of the cat and the pacesetter NT exhaust for 89-94 eclipse bolted right on without fitment issue. I also used the 2g MAS and did the wiring.

I felt a huge difference in power when I replaced all of these parts (especially the intake).

I personally like driving well tuned NT 4g63, there is a nice feel to not have a turbo sometimes, then the other times I just wanna boost crazy :thumb:

On my CAI i had to trim out my battery box then i had to put a coupler in the middle and it fit really good, i trimmed the air box and kept the stock maf sensor. It made a little difference in power, just a little more top end, but the sound was incredible, on a quiet night you could hear her from 3 miles away.:D

Here is a pic of my set-up after only 150 miles, however, you can see that this is a quality header AND the intake is awesome. It relocates the MAF inside the 2pc cone filter.

I bought that header before, I didn't like it because the chrome burns off after time and the metal it's made from is too thin so I just stuck with my pacesetter.

I don't see ANYTHING thin on this. The flange that meets with the head is 1/2", and all the rest are 3/8" stainless. I'll keep posting on this, but I'm pretty sure it's NOT chrome. Looks like stainless to me. I wish I had taken pics of the inside. I would of been happy paying $300-400 for this header, that's how nice it looks!

Why pay $100? The same seller is practically giving these things away:

MITS. ECLIPSE 2.0L NT 4-2-1 SS HEADER (item 270481941617)

For $45.99 shipped, I might buy one just for the tubing....lots of nice bends on there that can be cut & rewelded into something useful.

There it is! That's the same exact one I bought on ebay.. I bought it because it looked nice (and seemed like a great bargain) but it didn't quite compare to the quality of my $250 header so I just resold it.

Wow, it's pretty bad when Chinese-quality headers don't match the high standards of Pacesetter. ROFL

We had a Pacesetter turbo header on my buddy's 2G for a whopping 8 months before the #4 runner broke completely away from the collector. They wouldn't warranty their shitty product because we had the header wrapped after it started to peel the paint off his valve cover from excessive heat. Yeah, like the wrapping is what ultimately caused the tubing to completely seperate from the weld.

I'd take my chances with the Chinese if it were my $45.

FWIW. I've used a noname ebay and pacesetter header. They both looked to have the same welding quality and flanges both were at least flat, with the same thinckness. They alos looked EXACTLY the same. Same angles, same diameter, same gauge, same length of primaries and secondaries.

Both made a difference on the ol butt dyno and on the logger puth my maf hertz counts at about 8% higher with nice exhaust.

Not promoting ebay. Like Justin said. It doesn't take much to beat pacesetter.

Well us N/T guys don't have very many choices now do we! :p It's either pacesetter or something worse, LOL. Yes I am aware of how short lived they are on turbo applications, may be the added heat that causes that.. If I had a turbo eclipse I probably wouldn't buy pacesetter either but it works just fine on my N/T.. 5+ years with no problems

Didn't say the n/t header didn't last. Both were on cars for several years and Both got resold and run on OTHER cars for another several years. . .

I was just speaking in general, that's why I didn't quote ya ;)

...But I can't agree with ya on the thickness being the same, I had the ones jusmx141 posted from eBay and I currently have pacesetter, The eBay ones were made with much thinner metal (and sloppy welding work). I got my pacesetter header over 5 years ago, maybe then quality was better than today, I dunno.

UPDATE on this header that I purchased from Ebay...

I now have about 2,000 miles on this engine, and Stainless header that I purchased.

I couldn't be happier, it still looks like the pic I posted above, and has no signs of anything being wrong with my $100 header purchase.
