OK heres my first update for the ebay project!!!! If you missed the first thread, im building my car by buying all my parts on ebay to answer alot of questions about ebay buying. Pictures and videos coming soon!!!

The first part has arrived which is the ebay header. Decent looking piece, except the down pipe has no place for the o2 sensor. Question is. is there any solution to this??? I was thinking of cutting arround the stock o2 and welding it to the ebay one. HELP!!!

You hate them because you cross threaded a bolt? They've been run countless times with no issues.

i plan to have fun thats for damn certain. Oh wait, you thought i was gonna put like 5 grand into my rs just so some gsx with half the money invested can come and tear me a new one. Nawwwww ill pass.

But for those that are interested, what are some things you've seen on ebay that you wanna see tested out? This is the whole purpose of this project so dont hold back and remember its gotta be for the 420a.

Typically, the metal from eBay is NOT any differently manufactured, and neither are the welds. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE between the greddy, hks, blah blah is where the metal is manufactured. The eBay headers are manufactured 9 times out of 10 in Taiwan. Most of the name brands, the metal is mined, in america, russia, germany. And sold to a Chinese company for a large chunk of change, they mill the steel turn it around and sell it to an American company for 10x the price it takes to buy it and mill it with there .2 cent workers. Then an american, german, russian, assembles the known piece with a brand name on it and sells it for small profit that they recieve from the Chinese. All in all, the steel is basically the same and the welds are just as good, i have test and retested the turbo manifolds, with a heat test, and a smash test and the welds held up countless time. I think purchased another and reinforced welded it myself and i personally use it on my car. I also have personally spoken to both companies name brand and "ebay brand" and they both are quality products, but how much are you willing to pay?

Well that actually makes me feel a little better about the chances of this project being a successful one. Im still nervous about the o2 bung being on the header instead of the down pipe like the stock one.

fully ebay-based turbo setup

no joke :D

yeah that will come. thats probably gonna be the one I take the most shots for doing. I gotta prep for that first too.

well i guess i got a bad item this time, seems like it had been different for a few others.
the weird thing is that the header i have looks alot like the one in your pictures.

ECLIPSE/TALON/AVENGER 2.0L NT STAINLESS HEADER/EXHAUST - eBay (item 180600616534 end time Mar-13-11 18:58:47 PDT)

this is the one i have, ill try and get some pictures of it soon.
all the holes were off like i said, but it seems like you have had some luck. i plan on getting exhaust, then building up a separate a seperate 420a with an ebay turbo.
going for a cost effective build.

Why would it matter where the bung is? Well obviously if its on the oil filter housing its wrong, but anywhere on the manifold is fine! Its just sending a signal to your ecu on where the exaust is.

i had two censors that plugged into both of the holes.
not sure which was which, but i just took the one of the stock manifold and plugged in. works like a charm.

i had one censor that went into the left hand screw on your picture. the one on the right hand remained capped off. not sure what goes there.

i am referring to the picture you posted.

The O2 bung being at the collector is perfectly fine. That is were they all are on most aftermarket headers for the 420A, mine is on the collector and its fine.

Thanx for the info. I litterally had my car up on a lift bout to swap out headers when I encountered that problem. Atleast now I can do it this weekend for sure. Just got this in today. New edition to the Ebay Experiment.

Definately should get me some more leg room.

Ive had 2 ebay steering wheel in the past. both were removable. the first one lasted a long time and was great, the kid i sold the car to is still using it. the other one i had did have some play in it. when it was locked it felt loose but i may have over tightened the screws or something but it never fell off. i just dont recommend smaller steering wheels with no power steering, ive done that too. haha

Yerah it has a quick release but I have no idea how to put it on so im probably gonna just use the wheel and hub. Or just save some doe to get a different quick release.

I have an ebay turbo mani with with no problems. I have bought stuff for years off ebay and have run into minimal quality issues. Think most of it is research and not buying so something thats to good to be true. If interested in seeing what you come up with.

The capped off hole is for 95's only- There is a "secondary air system" which was recalled, so 99% of people leave that capped off.

Drastiq, I'd like to see you try out an ebay fuel pressure regulator. I know you don't have a huge use for one, but it's a quick install that might be worth trying-

I really dont have any use for one, however I do have some regular maintnance to do and then I could look into it. wont be much of a review though.

Do you have dyno availability?
As far as the dyno goes I was thinking the same thing. It be cool to be able to cover the gains of each part

i have 4 more payments on my car then i am going to start my build. will be doing a full ebay turbo system as well. even if the parts are faulty they are cheap off ebay. this way i can get the tuning down and not have to worry about breaking expensive parts.

so we will have two outlooks on this.

yeah looking foward to it. doing my research on preping for the turbo. by the way guys heres the first install. Unfortunately this is 2 days later so there already brown going on blue.

As far as the install goes, all the bolts lined up perfectly no major mods were required. Down pipe was about half an inch short of the cat but there was enough play on the exhaust to stretch them together. Only problem was due to the o2 sensor being in there so long it was a pain in the rear to get off so by the time I got it off I needed a new one. Heres my wheel too

I did use both. The threads weere just 2 rusted out. I go to the auto shop on base, they got all the tools and lifts you could need. Even they tried and gave up on it. The o2 socket started striping the o2. All in all, I got it done anyway. Things happen

Ebay short throw would be a good one for ya. I installed one myself not too long ago and am pretty happy with it...
