ebay header

Are you shitting me? Its a $70 header and down pipe, how do you think it is? You could practically recycle it and get more than you pay for it.

Rule #1 about modding a car.

Quality isnt cheap and cheap isnt quality

Rule #2 about modding a car.

Mod cheap, mod twice. That means, you buy a cheap POS product, like you linked to, and you will be buying a quality item to replace it which means, you will be over spending in the long run.

If you cant afford to mod your car, dont bother starting. Also, headers really are not the best bang for your buck on a N/T car, I cant really think of anything but an intake that really would help you. CIA will give slightly better gas mileage and negligible performance gains. You are better off putting that money into maintenance to keep the car running.

I am sorry to burst your bubble.

I ran a $120 header off of ebay on my 95 N/T for like a year and a half and didnt have one problem with it. But ebay seems to be either hit or miss.

The material used for this header is probably very low quality mild steel with soft metals in it to give it a nice shine like stainless steel. On some of these cheaper manifolds the welds do break due to material strength and from the heat cycles that the exhaust experiences, but on N/T applications the heat cycles are not as destructive on welds as in turbo applications. The welds themselves look very nice but keep in mind that this manifold was probably hand TIG welded for advertisement and that the actual product will have automated machine welds which are not bad and much better than some welders welding. The durability of this manifold may be a gamble but I have seen many cheap (Made in China/Ebay) manifolds last several years on N/T cars.

Those kind of products are hit or miss. Read the above post and that's basically it.

You could always re-weld it if need be, or weld on supports.

I wouldn't buy it. Just think of it this way, either pay 70 bucks for a shitty one now and very soon pay even more for another one that is name brand. Might as well do it the right way 1st.....
