OK heres my first update for the ebay project!!!! If you missed the first thread, im building my car by buying all my parts on ebay to answer alot of questions about ebay buying. Pictures and videos coming soon!!!

The first part has arrived which is the ebay header. Decent looking piece, except the down pipe has no place for the o2 sensor. Question is. is there any solution to this??? I was thinking of cutting arround the stock o2 and welding it to the ebay one. HELP!!!

Alot of the vendors sell weld on bungs. Just pick one up drill the hole and weld the bung on.

The should. Just tell them you need a weld in o2 bung. If they look at you like you have 3 heads go elsewhere.

Most ebay headers have the bungs welded at the collector...I'm surprised yours doesn't.

yeah will do ### I know know nothing bout cars

The o2 bung is on the collector on the left hand side. Take out that bolt and your o2 sensor will screw in right there. Just to throw you a heads up, you are going to need a special socket to remove and reinstall the sensor.

alright just to be 100% correct. I take the o2 sensor thats at the bottom of the down pipe and now put it into the bung thats on the left side of the header in the picture. And to get the sensoe off the stock down pipe I need a special socket? and just so you know im a 420a. dont know if that makes any difference

Yes, that is what will need to be done. If you have an Autozone nearby you can use their loan a tool program to borrow the special socket. Also, if you dont have any PB blaster already pick up a can because you will absolutely need it to help remove the bolts on the stock exhaust. Spray the bolts and I mean spray the crap out of them, especially the ones connecting the downpipe to the cat the night before you plan on putting the header on, let it soak in overnight. Then give them another spray before you attempt to remove them.

yeah the dp im not worried about, I had to remove it when I changed my oil pan. Its the bolts connecting the header to the block that scare me so ill be picking up some of that blaster tomorrow. anything else I should know when doing the install. Do I need to lube gaskets or anything like that. This is my first Do it myself other then the oil pan and intake.

Pray that none of your studs break. LOL. Jk. Looks like you got it covered. Just dont expect a huge power increase.

to be honest im not expecting any gain. its an ebay header. Its about putting the truth out there in a visual aspect instead of a bunch of he said, she said ish. Dont know if you guys saw my other thread bout a week ago. Im doing a Ebay project/experiment on my eclipse. Every part, upgrade, everything is coming off ebay and im covering it on video and photos to shed some light on the many ebay questions. Just far too many ebay questions on here that dont really get answered productively. Im gonna show people the truth about what ebay parts actually do fit, modifications if needed, quality or crap, and always showing the unboxing so you see exactly how they come right out of the box. Since this is a secondary car for me it sounded like fun and just made sence.

This is the 1st ebay part and theres a ebay steering wheel on the way. Gonna be fun.

I have ran ebay headers on a 98 avenger with a 420a there is a little gain from there headers an they bolted right up no mods needed. Then i installed my greddy headers an that's when i saw a noticeable gain.

Yeah greddy is always a good thing. My goal with this project is not to make hp. I just wanna minimize the opinionated answers givin to us mere mortals that dont have 4g63's and do wanna shop from ebay. Because the amount people spend on thier 4g63's to upgrade and tune, theres no way id spend that much on a 420a to make a fraction of the hp.:notgood:

I did my entire exhaust from header back, and saw only a slight gain. Ebay header here too (well obx, have nothing but good reviews for them). Typically pipes and welds such as intake and exhaust, it's usually the mechanical things that do not last (turbos, etc.). Other ebay parts on my car include XTD Stage 3 clutch, absolutely no problems and brake rotors with no problems.

i bought an ebay header and had to drill out the holes at least a 1/4 of an inch, then i ended up cross threading a bolt. had to take it to an exhaust shop today to get the flange cut off and just weld it straight up to the catalac converter (spelling).

i hate ebay with the passion after this little spill.
