i see every thread has multiple people saying "this has already been answered just search" and a lot of arguments and it's all childish.

this is the "Not Enough To Justify Its Own Thread" thread aka (netjiot)

this means if you have a question and cant find the answer cause you "already searched long and hard for it" just come to this thread and ask your question, when someone else see's your post, if they're nice enough, they'll help you.

this is of course all just a basic idea if it flows with the crowd then it should be pinned, if not let it die, i however think it will save some people from soiling their pants out of anger.

Or, those who have noticed a similar thread or a multitude of questions on the same topic can report the thread in question and include a link to the other threads so they can be merged. No reason to attempt to create a huge thread that, in all likelihood, nobody will find when posting their new thread / question anyway.

Basically if it's not easily-searchable, the effort is 100% wasted because the majority of the new member population doesn't even search anyway.

What makes you think someone who is so impatient to start a new thread rather than search would have ANY idea or intentions on finding this thread and utilizing it? I mean answering someones question in here rather than them searching for it to being with is just as annoying as them making a thread for it and still fails to serve the purpose of getting the members use to taking advantage of our rich archives on this forum.

Also, you are breaking a LOT of rules with your own post. Looks like you need to go back through the rule book yourself and learn to use your shift key. I'm positive this will be locked shortly but even though your heart was in a good place your brain seems to have gotten lost during the quest.

I know I shoulnd't post on this thread but I think somethings should be said. This apply's to the qoute unqoute beginers your refering to that post for help and everyone tells them to just search.First I just wanna say that everyone should search real hard and they don't even have to search these forums but get a manual if that.Just giving out answers is nice help but no one will learn that way, and I can tell you when people first starting to mod these cars they just didn't get help out of thin air.I think its good for the community and everyone if they tried real hard to research for there own sake to get there answers. One of my favorite sayings is."Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime." So you are more then free to just give them answer's, but it's always good to promote insight to what they are doing. Also to note as far as I can call maybe I am wrong but as far as dsm's go I don't know of one thing that didn't break or has not been changed on a dsm that has not been talked about especially begining questions that people have on these cars.

I know how to use my shift key, i spend all day at school typing for hours everything my professors say a i just get sick of caring about proper grammar when I type quickly.

You all seem to think it will end up horribly, but make it noticeable, let people know the purpose of this thread and im sure it will be used, but if a mod feels otherwise go ahead and close it was worth a try.

#1 bullshit excuse for laziness right there. We require proper grammar and punctuation- don't use "I do this all day" or "I can be proper whenever I want to / feel like it" as an excuse. We feel everyone should represent themselves in a manner that they would want to display publicly.

So you've essentially created a thread in a tech forum without even having a tech question or tech-related anything in it, hoping that someone will happen along and fill it with informative goodness. Again, this is what the search feature is for. We have 10+years of searchable information- none of it is archived. Our intent is to keep repetitive questions to a minimum...this thread encourages repetitive questions to be made. Pointless.

Oh moderators and wisemen put a big 'ol closed sign on this thread for as you have stated it would be a pointless and be lost. Not to mention practically unsearchable without wasting lots of time. That and if people don't have the patients to search through pages upon pages of results for the answer than they might not want to own a dsm considering they require alot of patients.

clearly your all beating a dead horse now, just let the thread die.

and if you think about it what make more sense, a bunch of threads with useless posts or 1 thread with useless posts.

either way it doesn't matter

I don't think this idea is enough to justify its own thread.

Any technical question that hasn't been answered yet deserves a thread of it's own so people can find it later. Not stuffed into a catch all thread where it will be lost forever.

+9001

I can't say that this is a bad idea, but it's not a good one for this either. I'm not gonna find head removal methods, bolts sizes, etc. in a SINGLE thread. We all know that the search is a great tool to a degree and maybe a little lackluster at times, but when people search by titles, this thread will never pop into their results.

I'm hoping for 0 threads with useless posts. That depends on the rest of you.

either way it doesn't matter

Thank you for the idea but it just doesn't seem like a good one.

i wasn't saying this is a search feature, but this is to save everyone from yelling at the lazy guy for not using the search feature. instead of him making a new thread he'll just post his question in there and wait for an answer. yea it eliminates the search function in essence but that's all up to the user being lazy or not.

but it's dead so lets let it die now.

Why cater to lazy people? If you don't try to find answers, perhaps you don't deserve any.
