Hey guys so I havent been driving my car since it broke, but thats a whole nother story. A friend of mine needs to use my ECU to see if thats his problem or not with his car, so I went and pulled it out today. I have never had it out of the car since I bought it, because its never given me a reason to, never had one problem with it. So as anybody would do, I opened the case to give it a once over and this is what I found.

**the first pic, I have no idea what these are or what they do, but I know one busted open**

***the second pic, the thing in the middle, that looks like the others just shorter and on its side, has the nice green ooze/corrosion on it and some has made its way to the board.***

Anybody know if its repairable? Anybody know why its not acting up? Since it works Im not worried about it a whole lot, just curious. And if you couldnt tell I dont know much about ECU's. LOL

Two very common problems.

The first is a blown IC105 caused by either a bad ISC or leakage to C106 (the front most of the three filter caps).
The second is C108 leaking. (I'd bet that C106 has leaked too) All 1G ECUs will do this if the original caps aren't replaced.

Both can be fixed. If left alone the ECU will stop working.

Ok cool thanks.

Hey I was thinking about it for a minute and something came to mind. One time I did have this phantom sputter while cruising down the road and the check engine light came on and actually went in sync with the sputter. What are the chances that this was me feeling one of those things crapping out? Cause that thing boggled the hell out of me, it'd be nice to actually find out why it did it.
