Noob with EXHAUST questions!!!! Pics included

Well this exhaust came with my car and my friend ( acts like he knows about cars ) said it is a cat back or a turbo back. its connected to the stock turbo and what not....the only thing different is that the pipes seem bigger than my first n/a eclipse.


So my question is....what kinda exhaust does this look like?
....what's a cat back?

....and finally, is this just a FART cannon? Lol

A cat-back is an exhaust system that replaces the stock unit from the catalytic converter to the exhaust tip. You have a full exhaust can be called a turbo back but it's really a 02 housing back exhaust. It could be home made but cant really tell from the pics.

That appears to be a run-of-the-mill, exhaust shop special, turbo-back exhaust. I'd be more concerned with that oil leak, though, than what kind of exhaust you have.

Haha yea that's what I was working on when my friend came over and was talking about it....

That's what It lokes like to me exhaust shop special..Unless the car is clean as hell but that's not the fatory flex pipe for sure..

If you can measure the outside diameter of the pipe that will be able to tell you if it's a stock exhaust shop special.Or larger than stock exhaust shop special..

Not knocking exhaust shop specials..There great for an exhaust on a budget..

And don't talk bad about the cat back they are a great mod that helps with hp. Just measure it I'm on my iPhone so I can't see the pics very well but if it's a 3in pipe it's deff a good thing and to me pipe is pipe regardless if it's greddy etc or exhaust shop, but I'm no pro. Like said above cat back means the exhaust pipe from the cat to the exhaust tip, turbo back is a cat back with the addition on a down pipe to the cat (or cat delete downpipe).
