(Sorry in advance for the length, I just want to get all my thoughts out so a smart person can explain it to me.)

Ok, I've been looking at different pictures of the engine bays shown around here, and also have been trying to learn as much as I can along the way. I have a nagging question in my head that I don't think I've seen addressed yet. With an external wastegate, there is an option of dumping it or recirculating. It looks like all the recirculating gets put right back into the O2 housings near the bottom of it, and the dumps have a pipe pointing down mostly out of the way of everything.

Now I didn't get to upgrade the turbo on my old Talon, so I didn't get to personally experience the sound of an external dump. I've looked at some YouTube vids of them, but the sound quality on alot of them isn't super. I personally would like to NOT hear extra exhaust noise since I loved the sound of my 3" turbo-back. I also want to be able to hold a boost setting rock solid, which is why a manifold-mounted external gate is on my build list (when I actually pick up another Talon).

So what I've learned so far is that recirculating the WG back into the O2 housing messes with the exhaust flow being so close to the turbo. Now here's my question finally...To keep the extra noise to a minimum but still have good boost control, could the WG be routed into a pipe that joined back into the main exhaust just after the flex-pipe section? Or maybe farther back if that's too close still? I was thinking if it came in at something like 30 degrees the exhaust flow would be minimally impacted at that point.

So smart people, if you could feed my brain, that would be super. And again, sorry for the length, I just wanted to explain what ideas are going on in my head. Thanks!

There is no reason why dumping the external past the flex-section should pose any problems, other than logistics. Personally I'm not a fan of manifold mounted externals, I prefer the O2 housing; however, there are many varying opinions on that particular subject. All that being said, a quality internal gate with the proper exhaust housing can hold "rock solid" boost nearly as well as an external gate with much less expense. A lot of it depends on the turbo and boost levels that you will be running.
