none of my lights will turn on

I have just purchased a 96 gsx and none of the lights will turn on. It is not blowing fuses and was told by the previous owner that the bulbs are good. Is it possible that it is a grounding error? But if its all the lights including the blinkers and dash lights is it more serious?

speak with the previous owner and see if anything happened that might have caused it, like him installing something in the car or anything like that.

Could be the light switch in the column itself if it is front and rear lights and cluster lights. Do your dome lights work? Check to see if you have power before and after light switch.

well there were LED lights installed under the dash on the passenger and driver side. But I don't know if they'd be tied in with the not working headlights because they work and don't need a switch to turn them on

It depends on what power source was tapped into to power the lights. If they turn on when the car was started they were wired into a constant 12v source and are probably unrelated.

Check relays under hood, and fuses. If all are working use a multimeter to check for voltage at each power source.

nothing blown, used a multimeter and it said no power was making it to the tail lights or head lights. I think it might be in the switch but since the brake lights are out to what could it be?

I had an old pick up that the fse box itself was going bad and caused my lights not to work. just a thought.

I would just change the fuses dude.. Even if they don't look bad - at least this way you will be able to tell if it's an internal issue

If it's internal - could be the box itself - could be within the switch itself - this is to say if they tapped that wire for the "LED" lights <.<

Question is though - how much draw is the inside getting for power? Because if there's more power required then the size of your battery needed - you may need a separate power source for the interior lighting

12 volts, but the the blinkers don't even say they are working on the gauges so I think it may be the switches

Are you 100% sure the 100A alternator fuse is not blown? It's one of the large bolt in ones.
