Ok - im going to get bashed im sure - but here goes ---- Im in the process of rebuilding my non turbo 1992 motor --im looking for a good reliable build thats going to hold up for me --------Im thinking of boring 30 out to up the compression and im looking for any and all non turbo builders with ideas and suggestions to at least get me to the 200+ horsepower range -----ive searched eevery where on here and all I get is turbo rebuilds --i race my 1g on a quarter mile oval and constantly running the 6-7 grand rpm range - could we possibly have a non turbo rebuild forum?..........I do not want a stroker motor but just some ideas on how to achieve my goal -----I know getting the compression up is going to help get the hp.....but im asking any non turbo builders to offer ideas help - and suggestions ........I am not a idiot on motors but want to get some input for my next motor -----thanks

Boring the engine will not up the compression, that involves things like thinner head gaskets and domed pistons. Sorry but it sounds like you are dreaming of a fast non turbo car, not gonna happen if you are racing in a stock class oval dirt track.

As i figured ----- I received no help ----im looking to turbo guys for answers--thats why im getting these type of replys - im not looking for a super fast non turbo ---- just a faster than normal non turbo ---im still looking for help guys on a build --- can any one out there offer any help -----thanks

Ok here is what I can say to help. Go ahead and get a 3 or 5 angle port and polish on your head, a light wheight flywheel, connecting rods, high compression pistons. New component for the head to match the high compression pistons. Of course the normal bolt ons I/H/E. There isnt really much that can be done to the n/t 4g63 to make power. You could also uprgrade the injectors n fuel pump. I hope that any of this info helps you reach your goal. I was wanting to do a n/t build on my 1ga, but after researching it doing a turbo swap for more power was the most reasonble/cheapest choice to go with. Good luck with your build. Also is there a displacement restriction on the class that you are goin to be competing in? If not I would go out and get a 4g64 bottom end and use that.

Do you plan on this to be your DD with oomph or strictly drag car? That could go a long way in deciding how far to go with some things. As an example, i run crower stage 2 cams, very good, but bullets drag car runs stage 3's, because its a drag car. Sadly I wish I could help more but its not a 420a, i mean check the basics and go to the extreme if its a drag car, the most comp you can, an amazing port job and etc. I'd be careful on the UDP because the way your stuff is balanced, but upgraded intake manifold, TB, possibly ITB's.

N/A is a lot harder to do and plan and build up than boost, so i wish you luck. High five for trying something unique and a kick to the balls for the haters bashing you for it.

Upgrade intake man, fuel system, cams, higher comp pistons and you should be looking pretty good. I've been looking foward to building my nt 1g so keep us posted and let us know how the build goes and how you decide to build. Goodluck

if you search around there are a couple of threads on this

I know a while back slowboy racing posted that they had 13:1 compression ratio pistons LOL although thats not streetable they said they can get custom pistons made. maybe 10:1 piston can be used in the NT block.

I know the stock nt 1g is a 9:1 compression ratio.

You can also use some kind of injection to up your hp

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but for the amount of money you'd spend getting your N/A to 200HP you could have swapped in a 4g63t and some upgrades on top of that.

High compression definitely. Maybe if it's possible with valve clearances, something like 14:1, needing alternative fuels. Also I would think smaller intake ports might help with velocity, instead of just flow. Tuning and exhaust to help move air out at high rpms, and to have high velocity on the intake ports at high rpms would be nasty. Cams of course. But I will agree with what others have said. NA is nice for daily reliability, but it really can't compete in competition. So I'd say turbo it if you are going to build the block.

If your looking to make around 200 WHP out of a 2.0 4g63 your in for a hell of a build.

Some things you should consider.

Port and Polish Head.
1mm Oversized Valves.
Some Aggresive Cams.
Higher Comp Pistons.
.030 over bore. Dont go bigger as you will end up with very thing piston walls.
Intake.
EVO 3 Intake Mani.
Turbo Throttle body with 2g Throttle Elbow.
AC Delete
Underdrive Pullys.
SAFC.

Higher Compression and Bigger Bore is the way to go. You also need to focus on breathing mods I.E. Intake and Exhaust Path. A free flow exhuast will help out a lot.

And have you guys ever considered what the OP is doing with his car? He may be running it in a class that only allows for 2.0 and under N/A cars.

Forgot to mention, for the 420a at least LTH works wonders, not sure how much they would help the 4g63 but something to look into.

Woomer... I bet due to the class of dirt track racing you are not allowed to go turbo....

get some pistons that will get you some where between 10:1-11:1 comp

look and see if you can find a "elantra" head, it has smaller combustion chambers

get a set of Engnbldr +1mm stainless steel valves, and BC1100 springs w/your stock retainers

this is about the same build that was used a few years back on a "stinger" class car I was involved in

Read here. i read the whole thing and learned alot from it. its very helpful. im starting to collect my parts now. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/1g-n-t-tech/55459-4g63-nt-engine-how-make-turbo-kit.html

He does not / can not go turbo. Quit posting if your just gonna tell him to turbo his car.

If you can find a head from a Hyundai Elantra I would go that route as Bogus Mentioned.

I would also have to agree with him on the valves and springs. ENGBLDR is a great company.

That's funny. His last post he said he was still looking for turbo help. How about you cool your jets there pal.

The usual way for N/T to make power:
1. Highest compression possible, at the very least 11.0:1.
2. Lighten everything up, lighten & balanced crank, underdrive pulleys, light weight flywheel.
3. Good flowing intake & exhaust.
4. High lift & duration cams.

be prepared with tons of cash as N/T is bad in term of $/hp.

I think he mean the other wise, read it again. LOL. :nono:

your absolutly on what i want to do and yes it is sort of a stinger class car - no turbos allowed -I thank you for your info was very helpful ----may i ask what year "elentra" to look for --I do have a 87 galant sitting here with a 2.0 in it ----- would that be the same head you are refering to?

Stuff that I didnt notice anyone saying.

Nobody mentioned the balance shaft eliminator kit? that might free 5-10 horse up.
Light weight knife edged crank.
Aluminum rods perhaps
Air filter moved down to where the stock intercooler would go.
Stock manual ecu, injectors, and fuel pump, 200 horse will be over what the n/t injectors can flow.

If you have the money and don't mind keeping the rpm down a bit, look into a high compression stroker motor. Same thing as us turbo guys would do, just use the high compression pistons. As said above, the best thing you can do is keep the rotating weight of the engine down BUT you can still have the low rotating weight WITH the added torque a stroker would provide.

It might throw you out of your class though...

Have you already gone through the top half of the motor???
