Can I build a 4G63 non-turbo into a turbo engine?

ok so i found a 4g63 engine in the talon non turbo , i go to school to build high performace motors, i wanna take that motor and build it from scratch will everything match up to put in the tsi awd talon like all the wire hoese and accessories???:talon:
 
It should you just need to work out stuff like the turbo and and boost controller,fuel,water feed,and oil feed and return but you will need to upgrade your internals if your thinking of high boost numbers,
 
If you're looking to boost this engine, you'll need to upgrade to the turbo pistons. They have a lower height ringland for the top ring. This keeps the ring away from the higher cylinder heat of a boosted combustion chamber.

If you have a 6-bolt, then the rods are identical to the reputed turbo 6-bolt rods. . . I think that's good to know ;) . I'm not sure about the n/t 7-bolt rods being identical to the turbo 7-bolt rods. I've only converted an n/t 6-bolt to turbo. But, if I where you and had a 7-bolt, I'd swap in the 6-bolt rods while swapping pistons. You can get a set used and not have to worry about pressing piston pins.

Oil squirters, though helpful, are a bit overrated, IMHO.
 
Wow. I can't get a bone yard to let a running turbo engine go for under $600. Most want $800. I can suck up running n/t 6-bolts all day long for $350 or so. A set of 6-bolt turbo pistons/rods can be had for $100.

They used to come cheap.

If you still have the 1998 turbo pistons, get a 6-bolt n/t and machine the rods to accept the pistons. Sightly higher compression than 1g pistons and many argue that the 2g T pistons are a little stronger. . . It's the best pistons and best rods, unless you decide forged.

:D This is true... but there is slightly more work involved if you buy NA engine vs buying a 4g63t.
 
i was wondering about the oil squirters.. how many of you ahve succesfully run a high booste conversion without them?

although i'm sure a machine shop could add them since the oill gallys should be there for them, they should just need drilled and tapped
 
i am going this weekend to pull out a n/t 6 bolt from a talon from the local junkyard. i am planing on makeing this a turbo motor and puting it i my friend 91 tsi. the whole thing for 150 if i pull it
