My 96 Gs-t engine had crank walk, and thats the 7 bolt, so I was going to buy a defferant engine for it. One of the engines I found was the same engine, but non-turbo. Would I be able to switch parts from my old engine onto the non-turbo engine to make it work for my car?

As long as you are talking about a 1G non-turbo, 4G63; 2G non-turbos are 420A neon engines.

The difference is a little higher compression and no oil squirters (shoot oil on under side of piston to cool it). I think you would be OK, as long as you run good fuel and don't run a lot of boost. It would probably work well with E85.

You will also have to look at the threads related to 2G / 1G (7-bolt / 6-bolt) engine conversions.

Good luck.

Hi.
Thought I would reply to your post, since I am 2/3 way through a 4g63 7 bolt N/T to 6bolt Turbo conversion on my 1G. It is not a very easy thing to do. For one the transmissions are different. The number of splines on the input shaft are not the same, which affects what clutch to use. I have discovered that the non-turbo throttlebody must have different shaft seals to withstand boost etc. I am learning a lot by reading everybodies posts here.
The oil squirter scenario worries me. Since the N/T block does not have them, will my engine run hotter?. I installed Mahle Pistons which have an incredible 0.0015 Piston sidewall to cylinder clearance!! Thats good for compression but creates a lot of friction. I will of course use good oil, but still.
If you swap your 2G 7 bolt for a 1G 6 bolt you will have to swap the ECU too and maybe the harness. Adding Turbo requires a better radiator. The list goes on. If you do decide to do it, stay in touch.

okay depends on what year engine

the 6 bolt came on the 90-92

and the rest of the 4g63s came with the 7 bolt

i have a 93 and i thought i had a 6 bolt but turns out i have the 7 bolt kinda pissed me off

but i got over it

now if you get the N/A you will have the higher compression and the turbo will spool faster but yet think again you cant push that much more boost than stock

if you want to you can use some of your stock internals from your 4G63T

and if you dont want to do that just get a thicker head gasket and it will be able to hold more boost

but you can use your stock setup from your engine now i promise and if you also want to

throw you more options you can do the 4G64 bottom end swap which is really nice you get alot more torque

but the DSM transmissions arent that great so idk about your drivetrain i know i have replaced two transmissions in the past year ( but i am a really bad driver)

i hope i could help the most i could

It has a newer trans in it, but its an auto. It also has a newer, stock turbo in it. The engine I was going to get was a 6 bolt from a guy who was going to putr it in his 1gen talon
