I went to start my 91 Talon TSi FWD manual today and it cranked once and then just started making a humming noise. Now whenever I try to crank all it does is hum. Tried jumping it three times with two different sets of wires and it did the same humming thing. Help I need to get my car to the shop tomorrow!!! (I suppose I could just push start it but that sucks)

First of all. If it were the teeth on the starter/flywheel, It would start as he's push starting it.
Yes, wet plugs usually means fuel...maybe more than you need in there...IE you're flooding it.
I would bet on an ECU. Also, the ecu also controls the spark...not just fuel.
Get a new ecu or try swapping one with another member on the forums. There are alot of nice guys out there.
Also, after youv'e swapped your ecu and it's still not cranking then its probably a loose wire(or both). If it fires then get that ecu rebuilt asap.
Other than that, thats all i can think of. But i dont feel well and if its something else i'm blaming it on that.

Alright man thanks a lot. Yeah I fixed the no crank problem. I just jiggled the wires on the starter around and it cranked... So yeah I'll swap an ecu asap.

Well fallenauthority, you get a cookie, what's your address? I'll get it shipped out to you immediately.

Email I got from Steve:
Andrew,

I received your ECU today and I have good new and bad news.
The good news, you just had leaking caps and I didn't have to do any
extra repairs.
The bad news, your ECU is not the cause of your car not starting. It
had
no problem starting mine before I changed the caps.

Steve

I guess the next thing to check would be the ECT sensor? Injectors seem to be firing because like I said the plugs were wet when pulled and I've got spark... Any other ideas?

Well I got the car started! It turned out to be the wires going to the ECT. The harness was so brittle that it snapped so clearly there was no signal going to the ECU. But when it started my oil pump or something failed. I got no oil pressure and it sounds like metal on metal when the car runs. I am having it towed to a shop tomorrow to get looked at... Damn DSM... But I love it :talon:
