I just got a 95 talon tsi fwd a week ago and I had to change the timing belt because the guy before me ripped it trying to put it on so I didn't know if it ran or not when I got it. I got the new timing belt on, got it timed right, and I had to hardwire the crank pos sensor and the cam pos sensor til they come in (can someone show me pics of where they plug into so I can make sure I got them in the right place), and it won't start now. I turn the key on and I don't hear the fuel pump but when I try to start it I can hear it. I tried starter fluid and it still wouldn't start. I replaced the plugs too because they had some Bosch Platinum in it, I put NGK-R's in it, don't remember what # though, they have two prongs that come up. The engine turns over fine so I'm pretty much lost on why it doesn't start. Can anyone help me at all because I need to have a working vehicle

The only one I got is for a obd2 and my car is a obd1. There's a way to read the codes with a jumper wire but I don't know how, if someone could tell me how, I would really appreciate it.

ok first things first. you need three thing to get a motor to start. spark. check to see if you are getting spark. next check to make sure that you are getting fuel. crack a line open, check injectors, ect. next you need compression. do a compression test. if you have all three it will run. ob1 really sucks and i doubt it will tell you what is wrong, if you had ob2 it might, but with ob1 froget it. does the check engine light even come on? if it doesnt then your not throwing any codes. try those things and see if you can find any thing to narrow your problem. if you need more help feel free to pm me.

I'm getting spark and I know I'm getting fuel, I just don't have a compression tester. I had a guy come over and look at it and he said it looked like the crank was out of time so he fixed it and now I gotta wait until tomorrow to try it again because I got to use a friend's vice to compress the auto tensioner back in. And he said the crank sensor was facing the wrong way too so I'm gonna find out tomorrow if he helped me out at all.

Well I don't know how it started the first time, but if the camshaft position sensor is not working or sending back the information of when to send fuel, the car wont start. I had a bad camshaft position sensor and I sprayed carb cleaner into the throttle body and the car would fire try that also after the timing of course.

I got some starting fluid and I'll try it later and I'll let you know how it went. Thanks for the information.
