I have a 95 Talon TSi. I have a check engine light that I would like to check. But when I now plug in the scan tool it shows nothing. I no for a fact that it did work on the car. I also checked the scan tool on another car and it works. The only thing I can think of, is when I was setting the curb idle, I did accidently ground out the wrong terminal in the diagnostic port. Maybe, this shorted something out? Does anybody know if there is a fusible link somewhere? Any help would be great.

-Thanks, Jason

There is a fuse for it. I believe it is the same as the radio fuse.

Does your radio still work? If no, replace the fuse.

If it does, check all indash fuses starting with interior lighting ones.

G/L.

A couple of days ago my friends CEL light came on and so yesterday we drove his 98' RS down to St. Cloud to go to auto zone for a free ODBII scan. Well they hooked up the scanner and there was no power in the port. WTF What should we do, trace all the wires back to the ecu or go somewhere else???? We need to get this fixed because his gas milage dropped from 27 average to 17 average once the CEL light came on. Thanks alot, Ryan
Oh yeah, I searched but couldnt find the same problem

I'm not sure about 2g's obdII ports, have you tried voltage checking the wires? try tracing it back to the ecu.. I'd also say since you dropped 10mpg, check your 02 sensors(i believe you have 2). They run in open loop mode when they've gone bad and can dramaticaly decrease gas mileage, at least they did on mine.
good luck!

ok thanks, we were also thinking it was the O2 sensor but the guys at auto zone said beacuse their was no power to the OBDII port that it could cause bad gas milage, i thought that was weird but would ask you guys anyways. Also, could the scanner they were using be the reason for it not turning on?? thanks Ryan

I had the same exact problem and i started at the fuse box and there is were my problem was two fuses were blown after repleacing them the obd2 port is working.

I've tried to use my logger I bought over the last month, and I could never get a connection. I've tried everyting, and finally went to have the OBDII port tested up at autozone. Didn't work for them either. The guy said to check the fuse for the ECU, though I don't have a clue which one that is. The one I thought it might be was the ELC-4 fuse, which is perfectly fine.

What else might cause this, or what IS the fuse for the ECU?

Alright, found a fuse under the hood that was blown. Replaced that and I regained my interior lights and a few other things, but my logger still doesn't work. Tried disconnecting the neg bat cable for about 2 min and reconnecting, but it still doesn't work. It just keeps trying to connect.

No other fuses were blown, as I checked them all under the hood, and by your foot in the interior.

What else could it be?

Your port could have a bad connection at the ECU. I remember another member having problems with this so he grabbed a pinout of the ECU and started probing to find the wire that was loose in the harness.

Ill see if I can find it.

You're the only one thats replied, so believe me all help is much appreciated.

Unfortunately I've tweaked my pocketlogger software to death, but to no avail. It wont connect. After replacing the fuse though, I have gained the following things

Door ajar light and sound (when key is inserted)
Check engine light (flashed on when you started the car before, but stays on now. Great)
Radio prests now stay set instead of losing them after an hour (yeaaaaaa!)
Interior lights now work

I really appreciate the pinout diagram too! One thing I would like to know (if anyone knows) is what wire powers the diagnostic port? That way I can hook up a volt meter to it and see if it's putting out any juice.
