General Early 1990 No Diagnostic Port?

A friend of mine has a bone stock, mint 1990 GST. He wants to do some modding, maybe to the point where he'll want to data log.

It has a late '89 build date and no diagnostic port. What are we gonna do?

Well if worst came to worse you can wire one in, but I can't say I have heard of a 1g having not having a diagnostic plug. Are you familiar with these cars?

Yeah. You know how we (non-89'ers I guess) just plug our datalogger in right next to the fuse panel and ground it where the 15amp windshield wiper or cigar fuse is?

Well, there is no where to plug it in, just a fuse box.
 
Yeah he won't want to do that, especially now since he just decided to keep it stock. Actually, I should post some pictures - it's one of the nices I've ever seen.

Just thought the port might be hiding.
