Hi,.

I have a 98 GS-T. I just installed a big 16G. Everything seemed to be running fine until a few days ago. Now when I am driving as soon as the turbo fully charges the car feels like i slammed on the breaks and it has no HP or anything. I have to back off the gas till the turbo is no longer fully charged and then I have some power to slightly accelerate. I cant not figure out whats going on here. It happens as soon as the car hits about 5 pounds of boost. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. IF there are any questions let me know. I really need to have this done by friday! :-x Any advice will be appreciated.

I doubt it. I just changed all the plugs 2 days ago. The sputtering is coming from the muffler area and the car just has no get up and go. Also it only happens when the turbo is just about ready to go off. All my plugs are good I guess I can try to replace the wires.

I had a mechanic install them. What exactly do you mean by gapped them correctly? the car was running fine and just started doing this all of a sudden. I changed the plugs after it started happening. If that matters.

You're probably hitting fuel cut, feels like you hit a "brick wall." I say this because in your profile you don't have anything to tune that 16g with, also it looks like you have stock fuel system. I highly advise you to get dsmlink, safc and logger or something to tune it with. When you upgrade a turbo it is wise to have all the supporting mods.

I still do not have a solution so any ideas would be great.

The car had a regular 16G on it prior ( i dont believe it was a B16G ) and it was running well. Also like i said it was running fine for a little bit with the new B16G. The only fuel upgrade I have his the Fuel pump.

Are there any low cost methods to solve this problem. Even temporarily? I have to report back to Atlanta on Friday for the military and am currently in Melbourne, FL. I just need to be sure the car will make it there. Thanks again.

I'd jump on the fuel cut boat too but he said he's only hitting 5lbs...i don't hit fuel cut till after 16lbs on my untuned EvoIII 16g.

Have you touched your fuel system lately? Can you check that you're getting adequate fuel pressure? MAS plugged in and all honey combs intact? Boost leak test yet?

+1 on the Boost leak test

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine if you stay out of boost, I had to stay out of boost for a week when I got my FP BT28 until I my injectors and fuel pump came in.

My car just started to do the same thing! When im driving its fine untill the tubo starts to spool up, then the car has no power when the turbo spools. It reads boost on the gauge but no kick at all!? Going to do a boost leak test.

Its just sputtering and bucking rigt not completly falling on its face right? if so its some kind of misfire rather then fuel cut

It definatly sounds like a fuel problem, has the gas been sitting in there for a while or not using high grade, could also be a clogged fuel filter, mabey try running some injector cleaner to see if that helps. Mine did that for a while but Im sure it was because I had the car sit for a while and the gas went bad.

The stock boost gauge is an ECU estimation, it doesn't read the real boost. That's why it doesn't drop if you, say, blast an IC pipe off.

Have any of you guys done the fuel pump rewire? That's usually required when you up the boost.
